According to recent reports, Minnesota RØKKR is nearing the signing of Thomas "Lynz" Gregorio, who'll join the team's Call of Duty League (CDL) roster for the 2024 season. The 18-year-old has no previous experience competing in the CDL but has made a name for himself as one of the most promising Call of Duty esports pro players on the Old Continent.
Minnesota RØKKR has struggled to accomplish much in the Call of Duty League 2023, ending the year with a seventh-eighth-place finish at CDL Championship 2023. Even though the RØKKR have shown some glimpses of greatness, with a top-six place finish at CDL Major 4 and two bronze medals from CDL Major 2 and 5, the RØKKR failed to keep up with the best and had to settle for another underwhelming finish to the season.
As a result, Minnesota RØKKR decided to completely rebuild its roster for next year and released its entire team, including Cameron "Cammy" McKilligan, Ben "Bance" Bance, Dillon "Attach" Price, and Marcus "Afro" Reid, who were let go on Tuesday, June 25. A few days prior, RØKKR also parted ways with long-time head coach Brian "Saintt" Baroska, who was with the team since September 2019.
The complete rebuild phase ahead of the CDL 2024 season come amid reports of a merger with a European esports organisation, G2 Esports. That might explain why RØKKR weren't involved in an early rostermaina, when the top teams picked up their new players for the upcoming season.
However, while the RØKKR seem to be still figuring out their budget and plans for 2024, recent reports have unveiled a potential lineup, which includes a young promising Call of Duty pro from France.
According to recent reports, Minnesota RØKKR are nearing the signing of Thomas "Lynz" Gregorio, an 18-year-old player from France, who is said to join forces with well-known faces from the CDL, including Joseph "Owakening" Conley, Lamar" Accuracy" Abedi, and Reece "Vivid" Drost.
Owakening is said to join RØKKR after being let go from Boston Breach, who he helped finish the CDL 2023 season in fifth-sixth place alongside Vivid. Both players were let go from Boston Breach earlier this week and have yet to officially find a new team.
Accuracy was previously on RØKKR throughout the 2021 season but parted ways with the team after the CDL Major 3 and has since represented Seattle Surge, with who he placed fourth in the CDL Championship 2023.
But while Minnesota RØKKR's supposed new roster looks promising, the biggest talking point is Lynz, an unfamiliar name for most of the CDL viewers but a very familiar face among those who followed the European Channelgers scene. The 18-year-old Frenchman is fresh off an impressive season with Aw0babobs, with who he won Call of Duty Challengers 2023 - Elite 2: EU, Cup 7:EU, and Call of Duty Challengers 2023 - Toronto Open.
Lynz ended the 2023 season with a fifth-sixth place finish at the Call of Duty Challengers 2023 Finals, where he amazed up with his performances, continuing his strong showings from the regular season, where he maintained a 1.21 KD across the four Elites.
Minnesota RØKKR have yet to officially confirm any roster changes, but if the rumours prove correct, the CDL 2024 RØKKR roster will feature:
- Joseph "Owakening" Conley
- Lamar "Accuracy" Abedi
- Reece "Vivid" Drost
- Thomas ”Lynz” Gregorio
