What Is Apex Legends?

Created by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts in 2019, Apex Legends is a free-to-play online multiplayer battle royale game and one of the most popular games of its genre.

Featuring unique characters, each with its own abilities and a plethora of weapons and equipment, Apex Legends promises a fast-paced gameplay players can enjoy either solo or with friends.

Primarily based on team play, Apex Legends rewards teamwork and the teammate's ability to work together, which is one of the main reasons why Apex Legends didn't need long to become a hugely popular game.

Due to its popularity and competitive nature, Apex Legends quickly found its place in the esports scene, where it remains one of the world's biggest and most-watched battle royale esports titles.

How Does Apex Legends Work?

Apex Legends is a battle royale title, meaning that the game's premise is the same as with any other battle royale, such as Fortnite or PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. However, it is slightly different compared to its main two competitors.

Each game features 20 teams of three players who drop onto an island at their chosen destination. The players start each game without weapons or equipment, which they must gather by scavenging the map and finding loot boxes containing armour, weapons, ammunition, and equipment.

The weapons, equipment, and amour have no set spawn, and each loot box contains random items; however, some areas of the map do contain better-quality loot.

While scavenging for better equipment, the teams engage in combat with other teams on the map while trying to stay in the "safe zone" outside of an electric field that approaches the island from all directions, restricting access to areas of the map in intervals.

With time, the electric field cuts off access to larger portions of the map, forcing the teams to get closer to each other, resulting in more frequent fights.

If a player gets knocked down, his teammates have a small period during which they can revive him, or else the player gets eliminated. Once a player is eliminated from the game, he leaves behind a loot box containing all his items and equipment, which can be picked up by either his teammates or the enemy.
The goal of the game is to be the last team standing.

Besides having a wide variety of weapons and equipment to choose from, the players can also pick between different characters before the game starts. Each character comes with a unique set of abilities, which can aid them in combat serve as support abilities, reconnaissance abilities, faster travel, and more.

Based on their abilities, the characters are divided into five classes – Recon, Support, Assault, Controller, or Skirmisher.

How To Bet On Apex Legends

Since Apex Legends is a battle royale game, it suffers from the same issue as Fortnite or PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds – there aren't many betting markets available for it. Still, there are two betting markets that will be regularly available with the best Apex Legends betting sites.

Outright Winner

Outright winner is a straightforward wager available for all Apex Legends tournaments. With it, we're picking which team will win the entire event, which usually means that the team must win several games or place high enough to accumulate enough points throughout all the rounds.

Head-to-Head Betting

Head-to-head betting is similar to outright winner; only here Apex Legends bettors get to predict which of the two teams will end the tournament higher.

If we pick Team A to defeat Team B on the head-to-head market, Team A only has to place higher than Team B by the end of the event and doesn't necessarily need to win the whole thing.

Key Apex Legends Tournaments & Leagues

The Apex Legends esports scene revolves mainly around the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS), a global competitive esports tournament series for Apex Legends. It was announced in 2019, while its inaugural season took place in 2020/21.

Since the first ALGS season, the competitive series remained mostly the same, although there were some adjustments to the format and the prize pool. Besides the ALGS, other, smaller events are hosted across all regions; however, due to their insignificance, they're rarely covered by esports betting sites.
