On Friday, November 3, Ninjas in Pyjamas officially announced the signing of ex-Movistar Riders AWPer and in-game leader Alejandro "alex" Masanet. The 27-year-old Spaniard joins the international roster as a permanent replacement for Hampus "hampus" Poser.

Rumours already tied Ninjas in Pyjamas with alex earlier this week, with some reports stating that the deal between the player and the Swedish esports organisation was already done. But it wasn't until this Friday that NiP officially announced the transfer.

By signing for NiP, alex will join an international squad for the first time in his career. The 26-year-old started his esports career in 2014 with gBots eSports Club and has since played for several teams, including Epsilon eSports, k1ck eSports; and in July 2017, he joined Movistar Riders, whom he left for three months in April 2018 before re-joining the Spanish squad.

With Movistar Riders, alex has attended his first CS Major at PGL Stockholm as well as his first Big Event in ESL Pro League Season 17, where he helped Movistar Riders reach the playoffs. Moreover, alex reached the semifinals of IEM Cologne 2022, which is one of the most notable tournament placements in his career.

Now, the 26-year-old joins Ninjas in Pyjamas as a replacement for Hampus "hampus" Poser, who was let go from the team in October following NiP's long dry streak. Ninjas in Pyjamas have not won a single tournament this season – except for BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023 – with the team blaming poor leadership for their lacklustre results.

As a result, NiP decided to freshen up its Counter-Strike lineup by releasing hampus and Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin, and re-signing Patrick "es3tag" Hansen at the end of October. Alex is the final missing piece of NiP's new international roster, which will debut at CS Asia Championships 2023.

Ninjas in Pyjamas were initially not expected to attend CS Asia Championships 2023 but got invited to the tournament as a replacement for Team Liquid, who withdrew from the event in September amid reports of a major roster overhaul.

Alex will debut for NiP on Thursday, November 9, when Ninjas in Pyjamas face off against FaZe Clan, in the first round of Group B.
