On Friday, November 24, Astralis confirmed the signing of two Counter-Strike players Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard and Martin "stavn" Lund. The duo join Astralis from a rival Counter-Strike team, Heroic, after weeks of reports suggesting that stavn and jabbi had already reached an agreement with Astralis.

The addition of jabbi and stavn sees Astralis part ways with Johannes "b0RUP" Borup and Christian "Buzz" Andersen, who were removed from the starting lineup and are free to explore their options. While it was known that Astralis would release two of its players to make room for the new signings, it wasn't confirmed until today that the two departees would be b0RUP and Buzz.

Buzz joined Astralis in December 2022 and was one of the main candidates to remain with the team following the recent roster changes. However, he lost his spot to Victor "Staehr" Staehr, who will continue with the team. Meanwhile, B0RUP joined Astralis in June 2023 as a solution to the team's role conflicts; however, he struggled to perform individually, which sees him move to the bench after less than six months with the team.

The signing of jabbi and stavn comes shortly after Astralis crashed out of BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2023 in the group stage. While the team had reportedly already made a deal with stavn and jabbi before the tournament, the BLAST Premier rulebook prevented Astralis from making any roster changes for the tournament, forcing the team to play one last event with its now-old lineup.

Astralis' interest in the two players was made public at the end of October when Heroic announced the benching of jabbi and stavn. The announcement states that the duo allegedly agreed to extend their contract with Heroic if the team released Casper "cadiaN" Møller, but even after Heroic followed their demands, jabbi and stavn decided to continue their talks with Astralis.

Heroic and Astralis eventually reached an agreement on jabbi and stavn's transfer on November 14, with the two players still having 10 months left on their contracts with Heroic.

"I want to welcome Martin and Jakob to Astralis. They both have the qualities and mindset we are looking for in Astralis, and by bringing in two players of this caliber we take an important step towards our goals short and long term. Both players have made it very clear how much they want to be a part of our organisation, which besides raw talent and hard work is key to becoming a success in Astralis."

With the addition of jabbi and stavn, Astralis have now completed its roster rebuild as we enter deeper into the Counter-Strike 2 era.
