BIG vs G2 Esports Predictions

BIG and G2 Esports will clash on Tuesday, May 8, in the first round of ESL Pro League Season 19 Playoffs. It'll mark their first meeting since February 2023, and according to esports betting odds, G2 Esports should win.

Counter-Strike bookmakers have G2 Esports priced as 1.40 favourites to defeat BIG, who enter the match as 2.75 underdogs. As a higher-rated team, G2 Esports are rightly priced as favourites, however, they've looked anything but stable so far this tournament.

  • G2 Esports barely made it to the ESL Pro League Season 19 Playoffs
  • BIG have posted a couple of good results this tournament
  • G2 Esports, while stronger, look a bit shaky

Head to Head

BIG and G2 Esports haven't met once so far this year

G2 Esports Form

G2 Esports entered ESL Pro League Season 19 as one of the more serious title contenders, but they've not found much success yet. Despite reaching the playoffs, G2 Esports were very underwhelming throughout the group stage.

They beat TYLOO in the first round but couldn't make it past The MongolZ (0-2) in the second round and then suffered another shocking loss against M80 (1-2) in the mid-bracket. Thankfully, G2 Esports found some momentum in the lower bracket, where they defeated Team Falcons (2-1) and got their revenge against M80 (2-0) in the deciding match, but even in those two games, G2 Esports were anything but convincing.

Even though four of the five players on G2 have averaged a positive performance rating, none rank among the top-performing players of the tournament, indicating middling form.

BIG Form

BIG weren't expected to do well at ESL Pro League Season 19 due to their lack of big accomplishments in Counter-Strike esports events this season. But they made it to the playoffs through the Group D mid-bracket.

In the group stage, BIG defeated BOSS (2-0), lost to Natus Vincere (1-2), and then picked up two 2-1 victories against Pera Esports and Heroic to book a ticket for the knockout stage. Compared to G2 Esports, BIG have looked just as good and have arguably done well against stronger opponents, yet they're still priced as underdogs.

G2 Esports are priced as big favourites for the upcoming series, which isn't too surprising. This is a very experienced team, and despite what their past results might suggest, G2 Esports are one of the top Counter-Strike squads in the world.

However, while they have the quality to compete for the trophy, G2 Esports haven't shown much and will need to step up if they wish to justify their tag as 1.40 favourites on Tuesday. Assuming G2 Esports show only half of what they're capable of, that price sounds fair, yet they've not given me enough reasons to believe that it'll be an easy afternoon for them.
