As confirmed on Friday, August 25, the CS:GO Asia Championship will return in November 2023. The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament will welcome eight teams and offer a $500,000 prize pool. The event will kick off on November 8 and culminate with the grand finals on November 12.

Hosted by Perfect World, the 2023 CS:GO Asia Championship will mark only the third iteration of the event, which was previously hosted in 2018 and 2019. The 2023 iteration will now make a return after the COVID-19 pandemic made hosting any major esports events in China impossible since 2019.

Besides revealing the tournament dates, Perfect World also announced five teams who received a direct invite to the event, including FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, Team Liquid, ENCE, and MOUZ. The teams will be joined by the two finalists of next week’s Perfect World Arena Premier League Season 5 and an additional directly invited team, which was yet to be revealed.

CS:GO Asia Championships 2023 will kick off with the group stage, dividing the eight participating teams into two groups of four. The group stage will have a double-elimination bracket, with all matches played as best-of-three (Bo3).

The group stage winners advance to the playoff semi-finals, while the second and third-placed teams advance to the quarterfinals. The CS:GO Asia Championships playoffs will be single-elimination, with all matches played as Bo3, including the grand finals.

Even though CS:GO Asia Championships has “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” in its name, the tournament will be held in Counter-Strike 2 if the game has already launched by the time. However, since Valve has yet to reveal when CS2 will go live, it’s unclear which game CS:GO Asia Championships will be held on.

Besides being the third CS:GO Asia Championships hosted by Perfect World, the upcoming tournament will also mark a good trial for the tournament organiser, who is set to organise the second Major of 2024 in Shanghai.
