Finnish esports organisation ENCE announced the signing of an all-female Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster on Thursday, September 7. The new lineup will consist of former Aces core and will carry the name ENCE Athena.
As confirmed on Thursday, ENCE is entering the female Counter-Strike circuit with a new international roster consisting of former G2 Oya player Oleksandra “manka” Kruspe and the former Aces core Lotta "Waldee" Liesmala, Milona "miLo" Tiainen, Tude "oxycet" Gürsoy and Halat "Missy" Naby.
“At ENCE, we have had our eyes on women’s Counter-Strike and, especially, on the Impact league for a while now. Over the past year, we had opportunities to sign multiple different rosters under our banner, and now, we have landed on the five players with whom we want to enter the scene.”
“It feels like this has been a long time coming as we complete our presence in the Counter-Strike landscape; We have our competing teams and content creators to create a full Counter-Strike experience for all of our followers, no matter your focus.”
The team will be coached by Swedish coach Sead “Djury” Jahovic, who played for Tikitakan in 2021-2022 and was most recently a part of TTC from January 2022 - October 2022. “We have big goals as a team that we hope to achieve soon, including qualifying to the ESL Impact LAN and winning the season. We are also aiming to reach HLTV #180 and compete against men’s teams.”
ENCE Athena will make their debut at ESL Impact Season 4 Europe, slated to kick off on September 13, 2023. The tournament will welcome 12 female CS:GO teams, who’ll compete for two tickets leading to the ESL Impact League Season 4 LAN event, which will take place on December 8-10, 2023, in Valencia, Spain.
