G2 Esports Confirm The Signing of malbsMd
After weeks of rumours and speculations, G2 Esports officially announced the signing of Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa. The 21-year-old Counter-Strike player joins the European squad as a replacement for Nemanja "nexa" Isaković, just two weeks before Esports World Cup 2024.

G2 Esports formally revealed malbsMd as the newest member of their Counter-Strike division on Friday, June 28, 2024, officially confirming the rumours linking the former M80 players to the organisation. He will fill in the gap left behind by the benching of Nexa, who was released from the active lineup earlier this month.

MalbsMd started his professional CS esports career in 2018 and spent the last year competing with the North American team M80, who he joined after a successful stint with TeamOne. With M80, malbsMd made a name for himself as one of the most promising players from the region, averaging a 1.26 performance rating since the switch to Counter-Strike 2.

Notably, malbsMd helped M80 qualify for ESL Pro League Season 19, in which his team finished in 17th-20th place. However, despite his team's early exit, malbsMd ended the event as the sixth-best-rated player, averaging a 1.28 performance rating across 17 maps.

"Super excited for the opportunity of my life, can't still believe this happened but I'm more ready than ever to grind and become a better player and person than i was before, I also want to thank everyone from M80 for their support since the 1st day of this," said malbsMd on Twitter.

MalbsMd's signing comes a couple of weeks following G2 Esports' early exit from BLAST Premier. Spring Final 2024, where they placed last with two defeats against Team Spirit and Team Vitality.

It's unclear whether G2 Esports will look to make further roster changes to find more stability and again start contesting top tournaments. However, more information should become available in the coming weeks.

MalbsMd will debut for G2 Esports at the Esports World Cup 2024, which is set to kick off on July 17, 2024. There, G2 Esports will join 14 other Counter-Strike teams and compete for the lion's share of the $1,000,000 prize pool.
