On Saturday, October 28, Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander announced that he is ready to return to professional Counter-Strike. The 28-year-old in-game leader is still under contract with Astralis; however, he hasn't been a part of the active lineup since June.
Gla1ve has started his Counter-Strike esports career in 2010 on CS: Source and is one of the most experienced players in the scene. Throughout the years, he has played for dozens of teams, but he is mostly known as an in-game leader of Astralis, with who he won four Major titles.
The Dane joined Astralis in October 2016 and has been a key member of the team ever since – except for a short break in May – September 2020. In June 2023, gla1ve stepped down from Astralis' roster for the second time, and while he is still contracted with the Danish Counter-Strike team, gla1ve is not a part of Astralis' further plans.
Since stepping down from Astralis' roster, gla1ve has not appeared in a single official match, leaving many wondering whether he intends to return and compete on Counter-Strike 2. However, he confirmed in a Twitter post that he is ready to come back.
"Sometimes it takes one step back to take two forward. I'm finally feeling like I'm ready to play the best CS of my life again, and I'm ready to jump back on the server."
"Whilst I'm still under contract with Astralis, they've allowed me to explore my options and I'm open to offers."
Gla1ve is currently looking for a new team to sign him, and while he'll likely get picked up by another organisation, it's still unclear where the Danish in-game leader will end up.
Gla1ve's announcement comes during a period of instability in the tier-one CS scene, as many high-profile players are in the process of switching teams. This, however, could open up opportunities for gla1ve to find a new home.
The Dane has been rumoured to join Ninjas in Pyjamas as the team's new in-game leader following the departure of Hampus "hampus" Poser, who was let go from the team on October 24. However, gla1ve's Twitter post proved that he has yet to find a new home, suggesting that he has yet to talk with NiP about a possible transfer.
