On Monday, October 23, Heroic announced the signing of Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, who joins the Danish Counter-Strike team until the end of 2023. The announcement comes four months after dupreeh's benching from Team Vitality and just three weeks after Heroic parted ways with Casper "cadiaN" Møller.

Heroic signed dupreeh to fill in the gap following the departure of long-time in-game leader cadiaN, who left the team due to disagreement with the organisation. With dupreeh, Heroic will hope to find more success in their competitive endeavours after the team has fallen short of winning a trophy in their last few tournament appearances.

However, while dupreeh joins Heroic as a replacement for cadiaN, the five-time major winner confirmed that he won't take over the in-game leader duties, suggesting that cadiaN's replacement will come within the team. The most likely candidate is Martin "stavn" Lund.

By joining Heroic, dupreeh will step back into the arena for the first time since June 2023, when he got benched from Team Vitality and replaced by Shahar "flamez" Shushan. But despite his age, dupreeh is determined to continue competing at the highest level.

"A lot of people seem to think that once you turn 30 and you have a kid, there is no room to play Counter-Strike, and that is definitely not the case."

The Dane was previously linked with a move to TSM and Team Falcons, where he would reunite with coach Danny "zonic" Sorensen. However, it seems like the deals didn't come though.

Dupreeh is set to make his debut for Heroic at Roobet Cup 2023, which is slated to kick off on Wednesday, October 25. The Counter-Strike 2 tournament will welcome 16 teams who'll fight for the lion's share of the $250,000 prize pool.

Heroic will play their first match of the event on Wednesday, when they face off against Aurora Gaming and the winner of Eternal Fire vs FURIA Esports on Friday, October 25.
