On Wednesday, October 25, Heroic announced the temporary benching of two of the teams' star riflers Martin "stavn" Lund and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard. The shock announcement follows reports of the two players reportedly joining Heroic's rival team – Astralis.

In the announcement of the benching of jabbi and stavn, Heroic shed more light on the situation, revealing that jabbi and stavn initially agreed that they would stay with the team if Heroic benched Casper "cadiaN" Moller. Since the team was put on an ultimatum of either parting ways with its long-time in-game leader or losing the roster, Heroic ultimately decided to release cadiaN from the team.

However, despite the initial agreement, jabbi and stavn now revealed that they're interested in joining Heroic' rival team. This puts Heroic in a very difficult spot, as the team released cadiaN to keep jabbi and stavn, who are now close to leaving the team.

As a result, jabbi and stavn got temporarily benched from Heroic's active Counter-Strike roster while the organisation tries to settle the issues. Heroic also stated that the team is ready to discuss potential transfers with other teams; however, Heroic's main ambition is to keep jabbi and stavn on its starting lineup.

"After ESL Pro League, stavn and jabbi initiated a push to replace cadiaN, which came unexpectedly to both cadiaN and Heroic's management team."
"Mediation efforts were attempted, but the situation was brought to an ultimatum where Heroic had to choose between cadiaN and the rest of the team. stavn and jabbi agreed that if Heroic let cadiaN go, they would extend their contracts. With clear intentions from stavn and jabbi to extend, Heroic amicably allowed cadiaN to pursue a new path."
"The same day stavn and jabbi were presented with new contracts they communicated having made future plans with Astralis. Their Heroic contracts had almost 10 months until expiration."

Earlier this week, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen was announced as a temporary replacement for cadiaN, and now, Heroic will use the services of MOUZ NXT dup William "sirah" Kjærsgaard and Crhstoffer "Chr1zN" Storgaard for their upcoming games at Thunderpick World Championship and Roobet Cup 2023.
