On Monday, January 15, 2024, ESL confirmed that the 2024 Intel Extreme Masters China will take place in Chengdu. The capital and the largest city of the Sichuan province will host the Counter-Strike 2 tournament between April 8 and 14.

The upcoming IEM China 2024 will welcome 16 Counter-Strike teams from all corners of the world, vying for the lion's share of the $250,000 prize pool and direct invite to the IEM Cologne 2024 group stage.

IEM Chengdu will be the third big event of the Counter-Strike 2 2024 season, succeeding BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2024 and IEM Katowice 2024, which are set to begin on January 22 and 31, respectively.

World's Top Teams Head To Chengdu

Intel Extreme Masters China 2024 will feature 16 Counter-Strike teams, including seven ESL Partner teams, four squads who've earned their spot through ESL World Ranking, and six teams who'll qualify for the event through regional qualifiers.

As of now, 11 teams are already confirmed to attend IEM China 2024, including:

  • FURIA Esports – ESL Partner
  • G2 Esports – ESL Partner
  • Heroic – ESL Partner
  • MOUZ – ESL Partner
  • Lynn Vision Gaming – China qualifier
  • Complexity Gaming – ESL World Ranking
  • Monte – ESL World Ranking
  • Cloud9 – ESL World Ranking
  • – ESL World Ranking

The remaining five spots will be filled through regional qualifiers in Europe, North America, South America, Oceania, and Asia.

IEM China 2024 is the second Counter-Strike event of 2024 that counts towards the Intel Grand Slam 5, following IEM Katowice 2024.
