According to recent reports, Ninjas in Pyjamas are close to singing Movistar Riders AWPer and in-game leader Alejandro "alex" Masanet. The Swedish team looks to sign the 26-year-old as a permanent replacement for Hampus "hampus" Poser, who was benched from the team on October 24.

Based on reports, alex was initially going to stay with Movistar Riders until the expiry of his contract at the end of 2023. However, Ninjas in Pyjamas and the Madrid-based team made a deal to expedite the process, which will allow alex to sign with NiP earlier.

Alex is one of the key players of Movistar Riders, which he has been a part of since July 2018. With the Spanish side, alex has won numerous events and took over the IGL role in 2018 when he replaced Lucas "steel" Lopes.

Alex played an important role in Movistar Riders' rise in the global CS rankings and helped the team qualify for their first and only Counter-Strike Major, PGL Stockholm, and ESL Pro League Season 17.
Even though Movistar Riders haven't won an S-Tier event, the Spanish side made semifinals of Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2022, after which Movistar Riders' star AWPer Alvaro "SunPayus" Garcia moved to ENCE, which saw alex take over the AWP role.

Alex is a perfect signing for Ninjas in Pyjamas, who have recently started freshening up its Counter-Strike roster following a long dry streak. According to the team's general manager, most of NiP's lack of success was due to poor leadership, which NiP will look to address by adding alex as a new IGL.

Ninjas in Pyjamas are currently ranked 27th in the global Counter-Strike rankings and with just one tournament title in 2023 - BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023. Since then, NiP haven't placed higher than ninth-12th across four tournaments, which includes early exits from ESL Pro League Season 18 (21st-28th) and THunderPick World Championship 2023 (13th-16th).

Ninjas in Pyjamas' next competitive endeavour is CS Asia Championships 2023, set to kick off on Wednesday, November 8. However, since alex missed the deadline with the transfer, he won't be able to help the team in China but will be available for the BLAST Premier: Fall Final, set to start on November 22.
