On Saturday, January 4, Ninjas in Pyjamas unveiled a new Young Ninjas roster, which welcomes four new players and Max "maxster" Jansson, who was previously a part of the main lineup. This marks the return of Young Ninjas after it released most of its lineup in June-July.

The new Young Ninjas roster still features a Swedish core of maxster, Jacob "jocab" Nerheden and Leo "Silence" Ingvarsson, who will link up with Maoz "BluePho3nix" Paz and Gareth "MisteM" Ries. Both maxster and Silence previously stood in for the main roster at Svenska Cupen 2023, where they helped Ninjas in Pyjamas claim a bronze medal.

Ninjas in Pyjamas' academy Counter-Strike roster previously fielded only Swedish players but has now moved to an English-speaking lineup for the first time in its history with Israeli player BluePho3nix and coach Daniel "sprayxd" Kogan and former ATK player MisteM, who joins Young Ninjas from South Africa.

The decision to move to an international lineup doesn't necessarily have to do with the lack of success the former Swedish roster had. But it mimics Ninjas in Pyjamas' main roster, which transitioned to fielding a mixed lineup in 2023.

According to the announcement, Ninjas in Pyjamas still plans to build another youth roster, which will field an all-Swedish lineup.

Yong Ninjas Return

Young Ninjas was first formed in January 2021 as an academy team of Ninjas in Pyjamas. The academy lineup had found some success in their competitive endeavour, placing second in WePlay Academy League Season 1, third in WePlay Academy League Season 2 and first in WePlay Academy League Season 6.

Young Ninjas also attended some other lesser tournaments over the three years, including CCT West Europe Series #4 and Svenska Elitserien Spring 2023 in June 2023, where they placed top four and second, respectively.

However, despite the team's success, Young Ninjas lost most of its roster in July, with coach Ahmed "abdi" Abdi and Adam "adamb" Angstrom leaving for Metizpot. Two months later, Linus "nilo" Bergman joined the duo, while Sean "era" knutsson left for GODSENT.

With the return of Young Ninjas, the Swedish esports organisation now fields three projects in Counter-Strike, including the main and academy lineup and NiP Impact – a female Counter-Strike team.
