Complexity and Nouns have qualified for ThunderPick World Championship through the North American qualifiers, rounding up the list of four NA Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams who’ll attend the $500,000 tournament.

The two North American CS:GO squad locked in their tickets for the ThunderPick World Championship 2023 over one month ahead of the tournament kick-off, though North American Series #2, which ran for just over one week, from August 21-29.

The Thunderpick World Championship 2023: North American Series #2 welcomed 20 North American CS:GO squads who got seeded into a single-elimination bracket, with all matches played as best-of-three. And while the event featured mostly lesser squads, there were a few big names from the NA CS:GO scene, including Evil Geniuses, Nouns, Party Astronauts, Bad News Bears, and Complexity Gaming.

As the highest-rated teams from the region, Complexity received a direct invite to the quarterfinals, where they met with the jungle. As was expected, the jungle proved no match for Complexity, who eased into the semifinals with 16-4 on Anubis and 16-0 on Nuke.

In the semifinals, Complexity met with Forsaken, who previously eliminated Party Astronauts from the event. However, even though Forsaken put up a tougher fight, they couldn’t match Complexity who won 2-1 with 16-7 on Inferno, 8-16 on Overpass, and 16-5 on Vertigo to reach the finals and earn a direct invite to ThunderPick World Championship 2023.

Starting their quest for the ThunderPick World Championship 2023 ticket on the opposite side of the bracket, Nouns Esports, like Complexity, received a direct invite to the quarterfinals, where they met with Badass Gaming. And while the underdogs had their moments, they proved toothless in their attempt to defeat Nouns, who won 16-8, 16-8.

In the semifinal, Nouns Esports met with former North American juggernauts and the current second-highest-rated NA CS:GO team, Evil Geniuses. But despite facing a tough opponent, Nouns proved to be the better team and won the series 2-1 with 16-6 on Mirage, 23-25 on Ancient, and 16-13 on Nuke.

By winning their semifinal bouts, Complexity and Nouns Esports have made the finals of Thunderpick World Championship 2023: North American Series #2, earning them tickets for the $500,000 tournament. However, the two teams still have to play the grand final on Tuesday, August 29, when they’ll fight for a $20,000 winner’s share.

With Complexity and Nouns qualifying for Thunderpick World Championship 2023, the upcoming tournament now has only eight more spots left to be filled. Two will be awarded to the top two teams from the European qualifier, while directly invited teams will fill in the remaining six slots.

As of today, eight teams are locked in for Thunderpick World Championship 2023, including:

  • ENCE (direct invite)
  • Heroic (direct invite)
  • MOUZ (EU Series #1)
  • BIG (EU Series #1)
  • WIldacrd Gaming (NA Series #1)
  • M80 (NA Series #1)
  • Complexity Gaming( NA Series #2)
  • Nouns (NA Series #2)
