Sharks Esports vs M80 Predictions

Sharks Esports and M80 will clash on Thursday, April 25, in the lower bracket of Group B at ESL Pro League Season 19. It’ll mark their first meeting, and according to the esports betting odds, M80 should win.

Counter-Strike bookmakers have M80 priced as 1.30 favourites to defeat Sharks Esports, who are 3.40 underdogs for the upcoming series. Considering M80 are a higher-rated Counter-Strike team, that sounds about right, but we’re still talking about a huge price on a lower-tier team.

  • M80 (#42) are higher rated than Sharks Esports (#91)
  • M80 have won thre of their last five games
  • Sharks Esports have won just one of their last five games

Head to Head

M80 and Sharks Esports have never met before.

Sharks Esports Form

Sharks Esports entered ESL Pro League Season 19 as one of the weakest and lowest-rated Counter-Strike teams. Ranked no.91 in the global standings, Sharks aren’t expected to make it very far in Malta, and they’ve not had the best start to the tournament.

In the first round, Sharks lost to Team Vitality (0-2) but there is no shame in that as Vitality are one of the elite few teams attending the event. Sharks did put up some fight against Vitality, and won 11 rounds (11-13) on Vertigo and even held a 9-3 lead at the half time.

Sharks still lost the map and eventually the series, but they had some good moments against a much stronger team.

Sharks Esports Squad & Team News

No recent changes for Sharks Esports.

M80 Form

M80 have done well for themselves this year. They qualified for Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024 in February and nearly made it to the PGL Major Copenhagen, with a sixth-eighth place finish at the American RMR.

Most recently, M80 also won the Esports World Cup 2024: North American Qualifier, proving they’re a competitive team in their own region. But all that success didn’t translate to the first round of ESL Pro League Season 19 when M80 lost to BetBoom Team 1-2.

M80 didn’t look particularly good in that series and didn’t deserve to win. They did, however, secure a dominant win on Ancient (13-1), so it’s not like M80 showed nothing that day.

M80 Squad & Team News

M80 have not made any roster changes.

  • Michael "Swisher" Schmid
  • Ethan "reck" Serrano
  • Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa
  • Fritz "slaxz-" Dietrich
  • Elias "s1n" Stein

On paper, M80 are a better team and they have achieved a lot more than Sharks Esports this year. But while M80 have a higher ceiling, they don’t necessarily deserve to be priced at 1.30.

This is still a match between two lower-division teams who tend to be inconsistent, so even though M80 should win, I would rather trust Sharks Esports to take one map.
