Steel Helmet received an invite for IEM Chengdu 2024 as a replacement for Monte, who couldn't make it to China, which automatically makes them one of the weakest teams attending the tournament. Steel Helmet did attend the Chinese qualifiers, but there they placed third, behind TYLOO and Lynn Vision.

On Monday, the Chinese side kicked off their IEM Chengdu 2024 campaign with a rough 2-13 loss against Astralis when the Danes made it very clear that Steel Helmet are not good enough to compete at this level. That, however, is hardly news.

Steel Helmet have not won a single Counter-Strike tournament this season, nor have they come close to winning one, with two seventh-eighth-place finishes at 5E Arena Asia Cup Spring 2024 and Asian Super League Season 2.

Nemiga Gaming made it to IEM Chengdu 2024 through the European Qualifier, where they faced fairly weak opponents such as Espionage, AMKAL Esports, and BetBoom Team. Winning the qualifiers was also one of Nemiga Gaming's biggest accomplishments of the year, as they've not won a single tournament.

As their current global ranking (42nd) suggests, Nemiga Gaming are a second-tier team and unlikely to make it very far in this tournament. However, they're expected to do well against Steel Helmet, which sounds fair considering how much stronger Europe, as a region, is compared to China.
