On Thursday, October 19, Argentinian Counter-Strike team 9z Team announced Santino "try" Rigal is stepping down from its active lineup. According to the announcement, try is stepping away due to medical reasons and is set to return at a later date.

The announcement came ahead of 9z Team's first match at ESL Challenger Jönköping South America closed qualifier, where 9z faced off against RED Canids. For the match, 9z called in coach Gustavo "tge" Motta, who stepped in for try, but wasn't able to help his team win the series.

9z Team also lost the second match of the tournament against MiBR (1-2) and got eliminated from ESL Challenger Jönköping South America closed qualifier. This will miss out on reaching the Swedish tournament.

Try's departure from 9z marks the second blow to the team, who already lost David "dav1deuS" Tapia at the start of October and promoted Matias "HUASOPEEK" Ibanez as his replacement. Now, 9z Team have to find another replacement player to take over for try, and have just four days to do so.

9z Team are set to attend Roobet Cup 2023 on October 25, where they’ll fight for the lion's share of $250,000 prize pool against some of the world's best Counter-Strike teams.

With try stepping down from the active lineup, 9z Team are without their best player and one man down, with just four players on the active roster.

  • Franco "dgt" Garcia
  • Maximiliano "max" Gonzalez
  • Nicolás "buda" Kramer
  • Matias “HUASOPEEK” Ibanez
