On Thursday, December 7, Team Liquid officially announced the signing of Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, who joins the Counter-Strike roster as the final missing piece. With the arrival of the Canadian player, Liquid have finalised its roster rebuild, now fielding three new players and a new coach.

Following months of middling results, Team Liquid decided to rebuild its Counter-Strike division – a process which started in October 2023. The decision to freshen up the lineup came just four months after Team Liquid signed Aleks "Rainwaker" Petrov and Robert "Patsi" Isyanov in a bid to start fresh following the retirement of in-game leader Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella.

Unfortunately, success was hard to come by for the North American squad, who haven't won a single Counter-Strike tournament this year. After weeks of shaky results, Liquid decided to hit a reset button and started rebuilding the lineup.

In October, Liquid benched Patsi and later parted ways with coach Damian "daps" Steele, Joshua "oSee" Ohm, and Rainwalker, leaving the team with four empty spots. However, Liquid didn't need long to find replacements and, over the last month, announced the addition of Felipe "skullz" Medeiros, Wilton "zews" Prado, Casper "cadiaN" Møller, and now Twistzz.

With the addition of Twistzz, Team Liquid again have a majority-Americas core, meaning the team will compete in the Americas RMR for a spot at the upcoming PGL Major Copenhagen.

Twistzz Returns

Twistzz joining Team Liquid hardly comes as a shock. The move has been rumoured to happen for over a month and was first mentioned back in October, when it was revealed that Twistzz has reached an agreement to re-join Team Liquid, who the Canadian was a part of in 2017-2020, before leaving for FaZe clan at the start of 2021.

The Canadian joins Team Liquid amid much fanfare, as he was a part of the roster, which dominated the CS:GO scene in 2019, when he helped Team Liquid win five Big Events in a row and claimed the Intel Grand Slam title in record time.

While it remains to be seen whether Twistzz will manage to recreate the success with Team Liquid, the NA Counter-Strike team now fields a highly competitive roster featuring some of the top talent in the world.

But it might take a while before we'll see the new-look lineup in action, as Liquid don't have any scheduled games until 2024.
