On Friday, December 22, Nigma Galaxy announced that Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi has returned to the active Dota 2 lineup. The news comes just two days after Nigma released three of its players and put the future of the team under question.

Miracle- is one of the four players, alongside Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov, Maroun "GH" Merhej, Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi, who created Nigma Galaxy (then Team Nigma), after the quartet left Team Liquid in 2019.

As one of the key members of Nigma Miracle- was a part of the main roster since the team's inception, but took a break from competition in December 2022 due to medical reasons. Since then, Miracle- has not played in a single official match, but remained on Nigma Galaxy's team as an inactive member.

And while he has not hinted at a possible return since stepping down from the team, Miracle- made a shocking announcement on Friday, unveiling that he will re-join the active roster for the 2024 season.

Turmbulent Time For Nigma Galaxy

Miracle-'s return comes amid a very turbulent period for Nigma Galaxy, who've recently axed most of the roster. On Thursday, Nigma Galaxy announced the departure of MinD_ContRoL, Kasra "Mikey" Mesbah, and Yuma "Yuma" Langlet, as well as that GH is taking a break from pro play for the foreseeable future.

This left Nigma Galaxy with just one active player in KuroKy; however, the team didn't need long to start filling the gaps. On Thursday, Nigma Galaxy announced the signing of Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan, who will now link up with KuroKy and Miracle-, forming a very strong core around which Nigma will look to rebuild.

The major roster overhaul comes after Nigma Galaxy have failed to produce much over the last year, failing to win a single tournament in the 2023 season. Their best placement was finishing DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division II in second place; however, since Valve removed the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC), Nigma didn't earn a promotion to the upper bracket for the 2024 season.

With three active players, Nigma Galaxy are now in a good spot to rebuild and start from scratch. However, it remains to be seen who will fill the remaining vacant spot.

Today, Alliance disbanded their project due to two players refusing to re-sign with the team, which might suggest that the two missing members might've struck a deal with Nigma Galaxy.
