On Thursday, December 21, Nigma Galaxy announced the return of Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan. The 24-year-old Dota 2 player joins Nigma Galaxy just one day after the team parted ways with three players as one of the key members around whom Nigma will build a new roster.

On Wednesday, Nigma Galaxy parted ways with Yuma "Yuma" Langlet, Kasra "Mikey" Mesbah, and Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov, as well as announced that Maroun "GH" Merhej will take a break from competitive Dota 2.

This left the European team with just one active player in Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi, and Amer "Miracle-"Al-Barkawi as an inactive member of the team. At the time, it was unclear what Nigma Galaxy's plans for the future are, with some speculating that the team might exit the competitive Dota 2 scene altogether.

However, this proved to be false on Thursday when Nigma Galaxy announced the signing of SumaiL.

The King Returns

By joining Nigma Galaxy, SumaiL returns under the European banner eight months after he was loaned out to Team Aster. The 24-year-old joined Nigma Galaxy in May 2022 and remained with the team for 12 months before SumaiL stepped down from the lineup to make room for Yuma and Mikey.

He has since spent six months competing with Team Aster in the Chinese Dota 2 scene. With Aster, SumaiL placed third in DPC CN 2023 Tour 3: Division I and attended four big events, including Bali Major 2023; however, he hasn't found much success over the six months.

Most recently, SumaiL was seen playing with Team Secret as a stand-in during BetBoom Dacha, where he helped the team finish in third place.

Despite not winning much in 2023, or in 2022, when he first joined Nigma Galaxy, SumaiL is still widely considered as one of the best Dota 2 players in the world. He's mostly known for his time at Evil Geniuses, with who he won The International 2015 and added two bronze medals in 2016 and 2018.

Since leaving Evil Geniuses, SumaiL has played for OG, briefly for Team Secret, and spent nine months with Nigma Galaxy, who le left following a shockingly poor display at DreamLeague Season 19, where Nigma placed 13th-14th.

With SumaiL re-joining Nigma Galaxy, the team now needs to find three more players to complete its roster. However, there's also a possibility that Miracle- will return from his break, leaving Nigma just two players short of a full lineup.
