EDward Gaming vs FunPlus Phoenix Predictions

EDward Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix will meet on Tuesday, February 6, in the third week of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2024 Spring. They've yet to clash this season, and according to the LoL betting odds, EDward Gaming should win.

Esports betting sites have EDward Gaming priced as 1.66 favourites to defeat FunPlus Phoenix, who enter the match as 2.10 underdogs. Considering EDG have yet to win a series, this makes little sense, granted FPX have had their fair share of blunders.

  • FunPlus Phoenix recently lost against Ultra Prime
  • EDward Gaming had to face mostly stronger teams so far this split
  • Both teams have a lot more to prove

EDward Gaming Form

EDward Gaming enter the third week of LPL 2024 Spring with a 0-4 record. They started the split with a 1-2 loss against Royal Never Give Up and have since suffered three more defeats against Top Esports, LGD Gaming, and BIlibili Gaming – all ending in 0-2 sweeps.

Even though EDG's record is far from optimal, they had to play Top Esports, BLG, and Royal Never Give Up, so they deserve some slack for their losses.

EDward Gaming rebuilt their League of Legends roster this offseason, moving away from veteran players and now fielding a younger roster. This transition phase hasn't been going well for them, and unless something drastically changes, EDG will struggle to compete for a playoff spot.

EDward Gaming Squad & Team News

EDward Gaming have not announced any changes yet. Mak "Solokill" Fu Keung might again start in the top lane.

  • Mak "Solokill" Fu Keung – top lane
  • Zhao "JieJie" Li-Jie – jungle
  • Lee "Fisher" Jeong-tae – mid lane
  • Kang "Thesnake" Guang – ADC
  • Zhao "Vampire" Zhe-Can – support

FunPlus Phoenix Form

FunPlus Phoenix suffered their third loss of the split against Ultra Prime last week following their defeats against Team WE and Anyone's Legend. FPX's only victory so far happened in the first week of the split, when they swept Oh My God.

FPX have produced a couple of weird series which doesn't inspire much confidence. They're not a great team but have solid pieces, and with time, FunPlus Phoenix could find the traction they need to compete for a strong mid-table finish.

However, while the potential is there, FunPlus Phoenix have given us very little to feel excited about.

FunPlus Phoenix Squad & Team News

FunPlus Phoenix have not announced any roster changes.

  • Ping "Xiaolaohu" Xiao-Hu – top lane
  • Cai "milkyway" Zi-Jun – jungle
  • Yang "Care" Jie – mid lane
  • Seo "Deokdam" Dae-gil – ADC
  • Kim "Life" Jeong-min – support

EDward Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix have not shown much so far in this split, which makes it tough to say where they rank. FPX seem to have a higher ceiling and a better-constructed roster, but results-wise, they've not produced anything more exciting than EDG.

Esports betting sites have EDG priced as the favouirtes due to FunPlus Phoenix' bad loss against Ultra Prime. But one bad game doesn't prove much. This should be a close game.
