Gen.G vs FearX Predictions

Gen.G and FearX will clash on Sunday, February 4, in the third round of League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2024, marking their first meeting of the split. However, even though the two squads have yet to meet before, it's easy to see how this affair will go.

Esports bookmakers have Gen.G priced as 1.05 favourites to defeat FearX, who enter the match as 8.50 underdogs. The massive gap in price is more than justifiable, considering Gen.G are the defending LCK champion and arguably one of the top two teams in the league.

  • Gen.G are the only team in the LCK with a perfect record
  • FearX are holding on well, with a 3-2 record
  • FearX should not cause any problems for Gen.G

Head to Head

This will mark the first meeting between FearX and Gen.G

Gen.G Form

Gen.G are in exceptional form. They've yet to lose a series this split and enter the final round of LCK 2024 Spring Week 3 with a perfect 5-0 record. Even more impressive is that Gen.G are 10-2 in maps won.

Over the five series, Gen.G have beaten T1, Nongshim RedForce, Dplus KIA, OKSavingsBank BRION, and Kwangdong Freecs. The only two teams who managed to take a map off Gen.G were T1 and Dplus KIA, which is not that concerning.

Gen.G are on a whole another level, and while they will likely drop a series sooner or later, it definitely won't happen against lesser teams. Gen.G are too stable to choke games like this, giving FearX very little chance to cause an upset.

Gen.G Squad & Team News

Gen.G have not announced any changes.

  • Kim "Kiin" Gi-in – top lane
  • Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu – jungle
  • Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon – mid lane
  • Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan – ADC
  • Son "Lehends" Si-woo – support

FearX Form

FearX are 3-2 since the start of the 2024 League of Legends season, with wins against BRION, DRX, and Nongshim RedForce and two losses against KT ROlster and Hanwha Life Esports.

FearX have beaten weaker teams but looked toothless against stronger opponents, which paints a clear picture of where this team lands. But we must also take into account that their 2-1 victory against RedForce wasn't very pretty, which puts a huge question mark on this team.

On the other hand, FearX are a very aggressive team. That approach will lead to some nasty games, but it also gives FearX the ability to surprise some stronger opponents. Unfortunately for them, Gen.G are too stable to be caught off guard.

FearX Squad & Team News

No changes for FearX.

  • Song "Clear" Hyeon-min – top lane
  • Kim "Willer" Jeong-hyeon – jungle
  • Lee "Clozer" Ju-hyeon – mid lane
  • Park "Hena" Jeung-hwan – ADC
  • Lee "Execute" Jeong-hoon – support

Gen.G are a vastly superior team to FearX and barring any major surprises, they should win with ease. They've smashed better teams over the last three weeks, so Gen.G shouldn't struggle to add another win to their resume on Sunday.

As noted, FearX are an aggressive team, which likely won't help them upset Gen.G but it could lead to higher-scoring games. And considering Gen.G likely won't go all out and crush FearX in 20 minutes, taking over kills for both maps looks like the smartest play.
