Gen.G vs T1 Predictions

Gen.G and T1 will clash on Sunday, June 16, 2024, in the first week of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2024 Summer regular season. It'll mark their first clash of the split, and according to the esports betting odds, Gen.G should win.

The best League of Legends bookmakers have Gen.G priced as 1.42 favourites to defeat T1, who are priced as 2.70 underdogs with Stake. As the current Mid-Season Invitational 2024 champions and the defending LCK champions, Gen.G have accomplished a lot more this season, which explains the offered number.

  • Both teams won their first series of the split
  • Gen.G defeated T1 the last time the two teams met
  • Gen.G are the most successful team of the 2024 LoL esport season so far

Head-to-Head

Gen.G have met with T1 three times this season and have yet to lose.

  • Gen.G 2-1 T1 – January 17, 2024
  • Gen.G 2-0 T1 – March 9, 2024
  • Gen.G 3-2 T1 – April 14, 2024

Gen.G Form

Gen.G were by far the most dominant LoL esports team at Mid-Season Invitational 2024, and they looked unstoppable in LCK 2024 Spring as well. While there's still half of the season left, it's fair to start talking about Gen.G as the most dominant team in the world.

A lot of it has to do with mid laner Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon, who is playing the best LoL of his career, and that's a scary thing for any team that ends up facing Gen.G. And to make things worse, he has more than capable players around him, forming a formidable roster that can easily contest the LoL World Championship title this season.

Gen.G are the deserving favourites on the outright LCK 2024 Summer betting markets, but you have to ask yourself whether Gen.G are really that much stronger than T1. And more importantly, should Gen.G be priced as 1.42 favourites for this match?

Gen.G Squad & Team News

No changes for Gen.G.

  • Kim "Kiin" Gi-in – top lane
  • Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu – jungle
  • Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon – mid lane
  • Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan – ADC
  • Son "Lehends" Si-woo – support

T1 Form

T1 ended the first split in second place and then crashed out of MSI 2024 in third place. That's far below the expectations for this squad, but it's not like T1 looked weak in the LCK 2024 Spring or at the MSI 2024.

They had some bizarre games at MSI 2024 and didn't look as clean as Gen.G. But that doesn't mean T1 can't improve. While producing relatively underwhelming results, T1 never looked quite in form, which leaves the possibility of T1 improving in the LCK 2024 Summer wide open.

The question is whether T1 will find form at the right time to challenge Gen.G, who are working at full steam.

T1 Squad & Team News

No changes for T1.

  • Choi "Zeus" Woo-je – top lane
  • Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun – jungle
  • Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok – mid lane
  • Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong – ADC
  • Ryu "Keria" Min-seok – support

Verdict

Gen.G are unquestionably the no.1 LoL esports team in the world, and they have the results to prove it. But while Gen.G have accomplished more than T1, it's not fair to say that Gen.G are significantly stronger – at least not stronger enough to justify the offered betting odds.

The head-to-head record makes it harder to justify betting on T1, but as noted, T1 have yet to really hit their momentum and once that happens, T1 and Gen.G should be considered about as equal as it gets.

It's T1 who enter this match with a lot more to prove, but even though Gen.G look like the most likely winners, having T1 priced as 2.70 underdogs is way too generous. Even if we bump Gen.G up a bit for their success at the MSI 2024, anything above 2.50 seems too much.
