League of Legends bookmakers have Ninjas in Pyjamas priced as 1.08 favourites to defeat Ultra Prime, who are 7.00 underdogs for the upcoming series. Considering the perceived strength of the two lineups, NiP should win, but neither team looked good in the first week of the LPL 2024 Summer Placements.

  • Ninjas in Pyjamas can't afford to lose
  • Ultra Prime are one of the weakest teams in the league
  • NiP need a perfect week

Head to Head

This is the first meeting between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Ultra Prime in the summer split.

Ninjas in Pyjamas Form

Ninjas in Pyjamas did not make any roster changes before LPL 2024 Summer and instead decided to swap out their coaching staff. Considering their main issue in LPL 2024 Spring was poor decision-making and not lack of talent, that move was expected – but Ninjas in Pyjamas didn't really show much improvement last week.

In the first week of LPL 2024 Summer Placements, Ninjas in Pyjamas won against Weibo Gaming (2-1) and lost against Anyone's Legend (0-2). However, even though Ninjas in Pyjamas failed to impress, this roster has a very high upside – and once the new coaches will have more time to work with the players, Ninjas in Pyjamas' performance should improve.

The real question is whether the current weaknesses of the Ninjas in Pyjamas can be exploited by Ultra Prime.

Ninjas in Pyjamas Squad & Team News

No changes for Ninjas in Pyjamas.

  • Deng "shanji" Zi-Jian – top lane
  • Mao "Aki" An – jungle
  • Song "Rookie" Eui-jin – mid lane
  • Ying "Photic" Qi-Shen – ADC
  • Wang "Zhuo" Xu-Zhuo – support

Ultra Prime Form

Looking at Ultra Prime's roster, this is easily one of the weakest teams in the LPL. And their showings in the first week would confirm it.

Even though Ultra Prime won both of their matches last week, they didn't look great in either and their success mostly came down to their opponents making critical mistakes. At least Ultra Prime have momentum on their side, but quality-wise, they're not comparable to Ninjas in Pyjamas, who should have a significant advantage across all five positions.

This might not matter too much if Ninjas in Pyjamas continue making mistakes, as they did last week, but unless NiP blunder completely, Ultra Prime should have a much more difficult time winning than they did against Weibo or Invictus Gaming.

Ultra Prime Squad & Team News

Ultra Prime freshened up their roster with three new signings.

  • Zhang "Decade" Hua-Xin – top lane
  • Yu "Qingtian" Zi-Han – top lane
  • Yang "H4cker" Zhi-Hao – jungle
  • Zhang "Yuekai" Yue-Kai – mid lane
  • Chiu "Doggo" Tzu-Chuan – ADC
  • Luo "xiaoyueji" Shi-Hao – ADC
  • Ying "Niket" Xin-Yuan – support

Verdict

Ultra Prime went 2-1 in the first week of LPL 2024 Summer Placements, beating Weibo Gaming and Invictus Gaming in three maps. Those results sound great, but the outcomes mostly had to do with the abysmal performances of the two opponents and not so much with Ultra Prime's quality showing.

Ninjas in Pyjamas were far from perfect last week and showcased many of the same issues this team and last split. However, a slower start was expected of them with the new coaching staff, so their performance should not be taken at face value.

Despite what the results from the first week might suggest, Ninjas in Pyjamas should be considerable favourites to win.
