On Tuesday, December 5, Team Heretics unveiled its League of Legends roster for the 2024 season. As previously rumoured, the lineup features three former G2 Esports teammates in Martin "Wunder" lNordahl Hansen, Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski, and Luka "Perkz" Perković, who reunited after three years apart.

Joining the G2 Esports trio is former Team Vitality support Norman "Kaiser" Kaiser and ADC Victor "Flakked" Lirola Tortosa, who returns to the team.

The major roster overhaul of the Spanish esports team comes following a disappointing run through the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) 2023 season. While Heretics placed fourth in the LEC 2023 Summer Playoffs, the team hasn't accomplished much altogether, with an eighth-place finish in the LEC 2023 Winter Groups and a ninth-place finish in the LEC 2023 Spring regular season.

A Veteran Lineup

Heretics' new lineup features some of the most accomplished European LoL players and plenty of experience. Perkz is widely regarded as one of the best mid laners in LEC history, having won eight LEC titles, all while playing at G2 Esports alongside Wunder and Jankos.

Despite their status as some of the most successful players in LEC history, the trio haven't accomplished much in recent years.

Since Perkz's departure from G2 Esports in 2020, he hasn't added another LEC title, whereas Jankos didn't find much success competing with Team Heretics last year either. Wunder, who left G2 to join Fnatic in 2022, accomplished some solid placements in the European league but has spent most of the 2023 season benched following a disastrous run in the LEC 2023 Winter Season.

By reuniting the trio and keeping Flakked, who has played alongside Jankos at Heretics throughout the 2023 season, the new-look roster seems to have some pre-established synergy. And while there are some questions about how this squad will do, Perkz, Jankos, and Wunder enter the 2024 season with plenty to prove.
