League of Legends bookmakers have Top Esports priced as 1.06 favourites to defeat FunPlus Phoenix, who enter the match as 8.00 underdogs. Considering what TES have shown over the last couple of weeks, that sounds like a fair offer.

  • Top Esports are on a five-game winning streak
  • FunPlus Phoenix have won their last three outings
  • FPX have done well against other strong teams

Head to Head

FunPlus Phoenix and Top Esports have yet to meet this season.

Top Esports Form

Top Esports are fresh off a 2-0 sweep of LNG Esports on Friday, which marked their fifth consecutive win of the LPL 2024 Spring. Prior to beating LNG, Top Esports defeated Royal Never Give Up, Weibo Gaming, Rare Atom, and EDward Gaming, while their only loss so far happened on the first day of the split, when TES lost against Bilibili Gaming.

TES are in excellent form and are running over any team they've faced since the opening day of LPL 2024 Spring. Their performance statistics are incredible as they rank first across most metrics, including gold lead at 10 and 20 minutes.

A big reason why TES are so successful is their ability to gain early leads and use those to close out games. Currently, there are't many teams capable of doing that across all regions and those that are sit in the upper part of the league table.

FunPlus Phoenix Form

FunPlus Phoenix won their third consecutive match on Friday when they defeated LGD Gaming 2-1, which is nothing to sneeze at, considering LGD Gaming are not as weak as they may seem. However, while we can praise FPX for some of their games, this team lacks consistency.

FunPlus Phoenix have so far produced some excellent and shaky games, showing a trend where they'll either play well or very poorly – and there aren't many instances where FPX are somewhere in between.

A big issue with this team is their inability to consistently use the early leads they gain to close out maps. Sometimes it'll work out, and FPX will look incredible; other times, FPX will fall apart despite a strong start to the game.

Verdict

Top Esports are in exceptional form heading into this match and have shown a lot of good qualities, which makes it tough to bet against them. They're excellent in gaining early leads and using them to close out the games, which not many other teams are capable of – and more importantly, not many teams can counter that.

FunPlus Phoenix have shown some good and some less-convincing showings and have proven to be somewhat inconsistent. They will have games where FPX will run away with an early lead and close out the map quickly, but there will also be games where FPX will get an early lead and do nothing with it.

This is TES' game to lose, but knowing that FPX can have a good day, there's a world where they steal a map. At the offered betting odds, I'll gladly take FunPlus Phoenix with a map advantage.
