Ultra Prime vs EDward Gaming Predictions

Ultra Prime and EDward Gaming will lock horns on Thursday, March 21, in the penultimate week of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2024 Spring. Both teams are guaranteed to finish the season inside the bottom seven; however, EDG are expected to come out ahead of this contest.

League of Legends bookmakers have EDward Gaming priced as 1.72 favourites to defeat Ultra Prime, who enter the match as 2.10 underdogs. Neither team looked good this split, so it would be fair to say that this is a close to a coin flip as it can get.

  • EDward Gaming are 2-12
  • Ultra Prime have won the same number of games this split
  • EDward Gaming and Ultra Prime are two of LPL's weakest teams

Head to Head

EDward Gaming and Ultra Prime have yet to meet this season.

Ultra Prime Form

Ultra Prime have not looked great this season, so it's hardly shocking to see them sit at the bottom of the LPL 2024 Spring table with a 2-12 record. They're on a five-game losing streak, which includes defeats against Oh My God, Bilibili Gaming, Top Esports, JD Gaming, and LNG Esports.

In their defence, Ultra Prime had to play some tough opponents over that stretch, so it's not like we could've expected them to do better than 0-5. Still, that doesn't change the fact that UP have been terrible throughout the entire season.

Ultra Prime Squad & Team News

Ultra Prime have not announced any roster changes.

  • Zhang "Decade" Hua-Xin – top lane
  • Yang "H4cker" Zhi-Hao – jungle
  • Zhang "Yuekai" Yue-Kai – mid lane
  • Chiu "Doggo" Tzu-Chuan – ADC
  • Sun "Jwei" Jun-Wei – support

EDward Gaming Form

EDward Gaming, like Ultra Prime, have not accomplished much this split. They're 2-12 and on a four-game losing streak with defeats against LNG Esports, Weibo Gaming, ThunderTalk Gaming, and Invictus Gaming.

EDward Gaming had a easier schedule recently, and they've done better than Ultra Prime, having won maps against Weibo Gaming and Invictus Gaming. But while stronger, neither of these two teams are known for their consistency, so taking maps off them doesn't prove anything.

EDward Gaming Squad & Team News

EDward Gaming have yet to announce any changes.

  • Mak "Solokill" Fu Keung – top lane
  • Zhao "JieJie" Li-Jie – jungle
  • Lee "Fisher" Jeong-tae – mid lane
  • Kang "Thesnake" Guang – ADC
  • Zhao "Vampire" Zhe-Can – support

Verdict

This is a match between two teams that aren't very good, and even that's an understatement. While EDward Gaming took more from their last few games than Ultra Prime, EDG also had an easier schedule, and their three-map series against Weibo Gaming was largely due to WBG playing with a different jungler.

Their recent results don't prove that EDward Gaming is any stronger than Ultra Prime, as much as the fact that UP had to play tougher opponents doesn't make them any better. This is a 50/50 match, so I don't mind taking Ultra Prime at 2.10.
