According to recent reports, Jakob "YamatoCannon" Mebdi has agreed to join Karmine Corp League of Legends team. The news comes ahead of KC's debut in the LoL EMEA Championship (LEC) in 2024.

Karmine Corp has acquired a spot in the LEC ahead of the 2024 season from Astralis, which will finally see one of the fastest-growing and most popular European esports organisations enter the region's top-level LoL division. However, since KC announced the news, the team has yet to reveal how its team will look.

Despite lack of official announcements, Karmine Corp has been hard at work, trying to form a competitive roster that will leave a mark in KC's debut year in LEC. According to numerous reliable reports, KC have already signed a handful of high-profile players, including ADC Elias "Upset" Lipp and jungler Zhou "Bo" Yang-Bo, as well as one of the most experienced European coaches, Jakob "YamatoCannon" Mebdi.

YamatoCannon has been a very highly rated LoL coach and is set to join Karmine Corp as one of the most experienced coaches in the scene. The former pro player turned coach made his coaching debut in January 2015 with MeetYourMakrers and has since coached Glacial Phoenix, Team ROCCAT, Splyce, Team Vitality, and Fnatic.

The 27-year-old was the first European coach in history to join an Asian team when he took over as head coach for SANDBOX Gaming in May 2020, but his stint in Korea was rather short-lived.

YamatoCannon left SANDBOX after just five months after finishing LCK 2020 Summer in seventh place.
While no moves have been officially announced yet, we can follow the reports and almost certainly predict Karmine Corp's roster for LEC 2024, which looks fairly competitive on paper.

Besides Upset as ADC and Bo as jungler, Karmine Corp is expected to field Lucas "Cabochard" Simon-Meslet in the top lane, Lucas "Saken" Fayard as mid laner, and Raphaël "Targamas" Crabbé as support.

Rumoured Karmine Corp Roster:
  • Lucas "Cabochard" Simon-Meslet – top lane
  • Zhou "Bo" Yang-Bo – jungle
  • Lucas "Saken" Fayard – mid lane
  • Elias "Upset" Lipp - ADC
  • Raphaël "Targamas" Crabbé – support
  • Jakob "YamatoCannon" Mebdi – coach
