Overwatch League 2023 Playoffs Predictions
The Overwatch League 2023 Playoffs is set to kick off on Thursday, September 28, with the first round of action across Group A and Group B. The season-culminating event will welcome eight Overwatch League teams, including five Western Division squads and three Easter Division teams, who will battle for the title of OWL champions and the lion's share of the $1,850,000 prize pool.

Due to the state of the Overwatch esports, this could potentially be the final Overwatch League season, and while nothing is set in stone yet, it could happen that next year we won't have OWL, or it will still run in a different format. This alone makes the Overwatch League 2023 Playoffs more prestigious to win, and realistically, all but three teams entering the tournament have a chance to win it all.
Yet, all the eyes will be on Atlanta Reign, Florida Mayhem, and Dallas Fuel as the leading three favourites to claim the OWL trophy.

Overwatch League 2023 Playoffs Odds
Esports bookmakers have set a clear line between the main favourites to win the Overwatch League 2023 Playoffs and the rest, with Atlanta Reign leading the outright markets, priced as 2.50 favourites. Behind the Reign are Florida Mayhem at 4.50, Dallas Fuel at 5.00, and Boston Uprising at 6.50.
Houston Outlaws join the list of potential Overwatch League 2023 Playoffs champions, priced at 7.50, well ahead of London Spitfire, who are priced as outsiders, at 29.00. The list of participating teams concludes with Hangzhou Spark and Seoul Infernal, who are complete outsiders, priced at 34.00 and 41.00, respectively, and even though both teams have shown some promise this season, they'll need a miracle to make much of an
The Main Favourites
Atlanta Reign (2.50) are the main favourites to win the Overwatch League 2023 Playoffs, which makes plenty of sense. They have consistently been one of the best Overwatch team of the season by a wide margin and arguably field the most stacked roster in the league, which alone is enough to believe that the Reign shouldn't flop in the playoffs.
Florida Mayhem (4.50) have looked very good this season and are not to be underestimated. Their biggest strength is their versatility, which helped them adapt to any playstyle and do well against any type of opponent. The strong versatility also ensures that the Mayhem won't simply fall apart if the meta changes during the playoffs, and that's a huge advantage they have over any other team in the bracket.
Houston Outlaws (7.50) are a complete package as a very versatile team, with some of the best players in the league and no evident weaknesses. They haven't been as flashy with their results as some other teams in the league, but the Outlaws can easily be regarded as one of the main favourites to win it all, mainly because it's impossible to find a good reason to doubt them.
Teams That Can Impress
Boston Uprising (6.50) have been on the cusp of greatness many times this season, and while they don't quite belong in the same tier as the top three teams, the Uprising can be deadly. However, they also tend to play down to their competition and aren't the most consistent squad, which makes them a less appealing pick to win it all.
Dallas Fuel (5.00) have been pretty quiet this season, but they are undoubtedly one of the teams that can make it far. With the recent roster changes, they've addressed their weaknesses and seem to be ready for the playoff meta.
However, while things are looking very promising for the Dallas Fuel, they're not the same team we saw last season, and while things can go great for the Fuel, they can easily go very badly. They are priced as the third-most likely team to win it all, but this largely has to do with the hype surrounding Fuel and their signing of Choi "Hanbin" Han-been. Hanbin is not a bad addition by any means, but his signing shouldn't make the Fuel one of the leading favourites to win it all.
Verdict
The Overwatch League 2023 Playoffs should produce a very close race for the title, and realistically, all of the top five favourites have a chance to go all the way. However, while it's tough to pick a favourite, the offered betting odds make it much easier to find a team that is a bit underrated.
Of the three main favourites, the Florida Mayhem looks like the best pick. This very talented and highly versatile team ensures that the Mayhem won't just fall apart if the meta changes – like many other teams can. This gives us some security if the meta shifts away from Zarya, but it's not like the Mayhem will struggle if the meta stays the same.
Another team I'll keep my eye on is the Houston Outlaws. Despite being priced at 7.50, the Outlaws are one of the top teams in the league and undeniably very reliable.
