Cloud9 vs MIBR Predictions

Cloud9 and MIBR will lock horns on Friday, February 16, in the first round of Group A at VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: Americas Kickoff. It'll mark their first meeting of 2024, and according to the esports betting odds, Cloud9 should win.

Valorant betting sites have Cloud9 priced as 1.22 favourites to defeat MIBR, who enter the match as 4.00 underdogs. MIBR have not accomplished much last season and haven't made any significant player upgrades, so the offered odds make sense. But the biggest reason why MIBR should not be trusted is the fact that they've not played an official match since October.

  • Cloud9 signed three new players in September
  • MIBR replaced three players ahead of the 2024 VCT season
  • MIBR have not played an official match since October

Cloud9 Form

This year, Cloud9 attended one Valorant event, Ludwig x Tarik Invitational 2, which was a for-fun tournament more than anything else. Still, it gave them a chance to warm up a bit, which is always positive.

Unfortunately, Cloud9 didn't look good at the event. They played three games and won just one against 100 Thieves but lost the remaining two against Moist x Shopify Rebellion and Oxygen Esports. This, while disappointing results, should be taken with a grain of salt as Ludwig x Tarik Invitational 2 was not a serious Valorant event.

Cloud9 Squad & Team News

During the offseason, Cloud9 signed Anthony "vanity" Malaspina, Maxim "wippie" Shepelev, and Francis "OXY" Hoang.

MIBR replaced a good chunk of their roster this offseason. They signed Matheus "RgLM" Rodigoli, Arthur "artzin" Araujo, and Matheus "mazin" Araújo, forming a decent roster; however, MIBR still lack world-class talent that would inspire much confidence.

The most impactful change was the signing of former LOUD coach Daniel "fRoD" Montaner, who can make this team much better than it seems on paper. But this is purely speculative, as we've not seen MiBR play since October when they attended Multiplatform Esports Game 2023 and ended the tournament in third place.

It's clear that MIBR doesn't have a great roster, but a good coach could make up for that.

Cloud9 look stronger, and they had their moments during the offseason. On the other side, we have a mediocre roster but with an excellent coach, which could lead to an exciting series.

C9 are priced as heavy favourites for this match, which mainly has to do with the fact that they field better players and they had a chance to warm up a bit in January. However, this is the first match of the season, so you have to have a very good reason to pick any team at such a high price.

At 1.83, I would take a swing at MIBR to win a map. They are a well-coached team, which could be a much bigger difference-maker than raw talent.
