On Wednesday, September 13, Sentinels announced the signing of Mouhamed "johnqt" Ouarid, who joins the North American Valorant esports team from M80. The Moroccan Valorant player will take over as Sentinels' new in-game leader, taking over for Marved, who will step down as the team leader.

Johnqt started his Valorant career in June 2020, but it wasn't until he joined Ghost Gaming in 2022 that his career truly kicked off. With Ghost Gaming, johnqt qualified for VCT 2022: North America Stage 2 Challengers and won the NSG: Summer Championship.

Following a successful run through the 2022 season johnqt, GianFranco "koalanoob" Potestio and Marc-Andre "NiSMO" Tayar left Ghost Gaming and joined M80, where johnqt reached new heights and helped M80 become a force to be reckoned with in the second division of Valorant competitive scene

As the brain behind the operation, johnqt helped M80 win every VALORANT Challengers tournament of 2023, except for the VALORANT Challengers 2023: North America Split 2, where his team placed third.

The strong showings throughout the year made M80 prime candidates to win the VALORANT Challengers Ascension 2023: Americas and qualify for the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) for the 2024 season; however, johnqt fell short and lost against The Guard in the finals.

The Guard were later denied a spot in the VCT Americas, and even though M80 were not invited as a replacement team, the team has gained enough recognition for all of its rosters to be considered as new signings by VCT teams for the next season. While all of the ex-M80 players are in talks with VCT teams, johnqt was the first one to get picked up by a top-division squad.

Sentinels' signing of johnqt is the second announcement from Sentinels, who previously revealed that Tyson "TenZ" Ngo renewed his contract with the North American squad. Yet the signing of johnqt and TenZ's contract extension are likely not the only two announcements Sentinels have in store.

Sentinels have struggled to accomplish much in the 2023 season and failed to make much noise in the competitive scene. The NA squad kicked off the year with an early exit from VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo (17th-32nd), ended the VCT 2023 Americas League in seventh place, and finished their season with a fourth-place finish at VCT 2023: Americas Last Chance Qualifier.

Considering the team's lack of success, more roster changes are likely on the cards. However, since we're still very early into the offseason, we'll likely have to wait for a few more weeks before Sentienls announce new changes.
