The Main Favourites

According to Valorant betting odds, Shopify Rebellion (2.00) are the main favourites to win the VCT 2023: Game Changers Championship. And that makes sense since this is the former lineup of Version1, which looked incredible throughout the 2023 season.

They won VCT 2023: Game Changers North America Series S1 and S2 and placed second in season 3. Shopify Rebellion have since shown some signs of struggle, with a ninth-16th-place finish at The FunHaver First and a semifinal run at Knights Arena Monthly Gauntlet 2023: October, but this doesn’t take away from their strong showings throughout the year.

As the strongest team from North America, Shopify Rebellion are not to be underestimated and considering the region’s strength; it makes sense that Shopify Rebellion are priced above other squads attending the event.

Europe’s BBL Queens (3.00) are priced as the second favourites on the Valorant outright betting markets as the strongest European VCT Game Changers teams attending the tournament. They had a very up-and-down season, with a silver medal from VCT 2023: Game Changers EMEA Stage 1, a fifth-sixth-place finish at VCT 2023: Game Changers EMEA Stage 2, and an early exit from GAMEON VALORANT Tournament - Open Qualifier 1.

However, BBL Queens bounced back in October when they won VCT 2023: Game Changers EMEA Stage 3, proving to the world that they’re the strongest team in the region and arguably one of the main candidates to win the whole event.

Outsiders That Can Do Well

Team Liquid Brazil (6.00) enter VCT 2023: Game Changers Championship as the third-most likely team to win the title, and it definitely helps that they’ll have the support from the home crowd. But there are some question marks above the Brazilian squad.

Team Liquid Brazil have looked incredible this season, winning the first three VCT 2023: Game Changers Brazil Series 1 qualifying events and then the main tournament. To that, they added another gold medal from VCT 2023: Game Changers Brazil Series 2 at the start of October.

Team Liquid Brazil already did well at last year’s tournament, when they claimed a bronze medal. However, shortly after, the squad replaced its entire roster – which did well throughout the year. The main concern with Liquid is the relative strength of the regions. While they were the best Brazilian team of 2023, the VCT Game Changers Brazil isn’t as stacked as NA or EU.

Evil Geniuses GC (10.00) haven’t looked good throughout the season, having won just one tournament - Complexity Paradox Invitational – in the first 10 months of the year. But Evil Geniuses GC found momentum in October when they won VCT 2023: Game Changers North America Series S3 with a 3-1 victory over Shopify Rebellion.

This alone proves that EG can be highly competitive, but they’ve recently made roster changes, which will definitely affect their chances of producing a deep run.

G2 Gozen (17.00) aren’t expected to do well, mainly because they’ve not looked great this season. The defending champions kept most of its championship roster intact and even performed well early into the year, winning the first and second VCT 2023: Game Changers EMEA, but then crashed out of the third stage in fourth place and ended Red Bull Home Ground #4 - EMEA Qualifier without a single win.

While their form in the latter stage of the season wasn’t great, G2 Gozen still field four of the five members that won the championship last season. So perhaps having them priced as 17.00 outsiders is underestimating them a bit.

Teams Who Will Struggle

According to the VCT 2023: Game Changers Championship outright betting odds, Chao HHui EDG (26.00), Team SMG (31.00), and KRU Blaze (67.00) are the biggest outsiders to win the tournament. And that sounds about right.

All three teams are by far the best squads from their respective regions, but we have to consider that the three outsiders hail from much weaker leagues than the top contenders. This makes their accomplishments throughout 2023 less relevant; however, we’ve seen teams from weaker regions outperform expectations before, and it might happen again.

VCT 2023: Game Changers Championship kicks off on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
