Since 2017, Six Invitational has expanded the number of invites to 16 (2018-2020) and 20 (2021-) teams to accommodate the growing popularity of Rainbow Six Siege. Throughout its history, Six Invitational has also changed its format.
Six Invitational is played over two stages – the group stage and the playoffs.
In the group stage, the teams are seeded into four round-robin format groups with five teams each. In the group stage, all teams play each other once in a best-of-three (BO3) series to determine which four teams (from each group) advance to the playoffs.
The first-placed teams receive a direct bye to the upper bracket round 2, the second and third-placed teams advance to upper bracket round 1, while the fourth-placed teams proceed to the lower bracket of the playoffs.
The playoffs are double-elimination, with all matches played as best-of-three (BO3), except for the grand final, which is best-of-five (BO5), with no map advantage.
