What is the League of Legends Champions of the Americas (LTA)?

The League of Legends Championship of the Americas was formed in 2025 as a new LoL esports competition, combining three leagues from the Americas region.

The newly-formed league absorbed North Americas’ LoL Championship Series (LCS), Brazil’s Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLOL) and Latin Americas’ Liga Latinoamérica (LLA), merging all three into one.

The decision to create the LTA was made in a bid to strengthen the Americas region. However, despite incorporating the three leagues, LTA is still divided into two conferences – Northern and Southern conferences – LTA North and LTA South.

The LTA North is for LoL teams based in North America, while the LTA South is for teams who are based in South America.

The competitive format for the inaugural LTA season was made so the teams first competed against each other within the conference. After that, the top-performing teams from one conference clashed with the top-performing teams from the other conference to crown the Americas champion – in the LTA Cross-Conference and the LTA Regional Finals.

The LTA Cross Conference was held in the first split to determine which team would represent the region in the newest international tournament, First Stand.

Meanwhile, the LTA Regional Finals will be held at the end of the season, featuring the top three teams from each region to determine which three squads will represent the LTA at the LoL World Championship.

As the 2025 season is the first in which the LTA will be held, more format changes for the league are expected to happen.
