As the first split of the year, the LCK Cup is one no LoL fan should miss, offering the first glimpse into the revamped rosters and the new season, which will include many impactful changes on the Summoner's Rift.
This also creates volatility and uncertainty as the newly formed lineups navigate the new season and meta. Still, even with that uncertainty, the top bookmakers have drawn a clear line between the top contenders to win the LCK Cup and the rest, with Gen.G and T1 entering the split as the teams to beat.
They are closely followed by the usual suspects in Hanwha Life Esports, KT Rolster, and Dplus KIA, who will hope they can spoil the plans of the top dogs and claim the illustrious LCK trophy.
When Does LCK Cup 2026 Start?
The LCK Cup 2026 is scheduled to start on Wednesday, January 14, with the first matches of the group stage. The league will continue until March 1, when the top two teams clash in the grand finals.
LCK Cup 2026 Format
The LCK Cup 2026 tournament structure divides the competition into three phases.
Group Battle
Group Battle is the first stage of the split and features all 10 teams split into two groups: Group Elder and Group Baron.
Rather than playing within their own groups, teams compete in a single round-robin against every team in the opposing group, collecting points to secure a bye to the playoffs.
- Group Battle will run for three weeks
- Weeks 1 & 2: Matches are played as best-of-3 (BO3), with each win awarding one point
- Super Week: Teams face their corresponding seed from the other group in a best-of-5 (BO5), with each win awarding two points
- The top two teams from the "Winner Group" (based on points) head to Playoff Round 2. The top team from the "Loser Group" goes to Playoff Round 1
- Teams ranking 3rd–5th in the Winner Group and 2nd–4th in the Loser Group enter the Play-In stage
- The bottom team in the Loser Group is eliminated
Play-In
- Six teams compete in a double-elimination bracket
- The top two teams from the points standings receive a first-round bye
- BO3 games
- Round 3 is BO5
- The top three teams proceed to the playoffs
Playoffs
- A double-elimination bracket
- All playoff matches are Best-of-5 (BO5)
- The two finalists earn direct invites to the First Stand 2026 international tournament
LCK Cup 2026 Betting Odds
Current market prices indicate a top-heavy battle for the LCK Cup trophy, though several rosters have the potential to disrupt the rankings.
Gen.G enters 2026 as the team to beat. After a dominant 2025, they have maintained their core while adding the experienced jungler Canyon. Their established synergy makes them the safest bet for early-season consistency, but they will face tough resistance from other title contenders.
The reigning world champions, T1, remain Gen.G's primary rivals. The biggest storyline is the acquisition of former Gen.G ADC Peyz, who joins the veteran core as a replacement for Gumayushi.
This move adds a new mechanical ceiling to a team already famous for its clutch performance in bracket stages and makes T1 potentially even more dangerous than they were in 2025.
Hanwha Life Esports are the most improved roster on paper. By signing Zeus, Gumayusi, and Kanavi, they have assembled a "Super Team" with LPL talent, adding aggression to a team known for taking their games slow.
If their star-studded lineup gels quickly, Hanwha Life could easily overcome the top two seeds.
KT Rolster will continue to rely on the stable duo of Bdd and Cuzz. With Aiming returning to the bot lane, KT remains a threat to any top team, though their reliance on key players makes them a more volatile pick.
Dplus KIA will continue to focus on the strong chemistry between Lucid and ShowMaker to carry them through the season.
Adding Smash and rookie Career provides a fresh look, but their success depends on whether coach cvMax has resolved the macro inconsistencies seen in previous splits and whether the new players will gel quickly enough.

Verdict
Hanwha Life Esports are viewed as dangerous outsiders and an appealing pick at longer odds. However, the value of continuity cannot be overstated.
Gen.G has kept the core that dominated the region for the past year. While T1 and HLE have the potential to be even stronger with the new signings, the addition of new players could lead to some early communication hurdles.
Gen.G's plug-and-play stability makes them the most reliable choice to secure the inaugural LCK Cup trophy.
