Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev
On Monday, October 21, Fnatic announced the departure of their star VALORANT esports player Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev. The announcement comes amid a major roster overhaul, which Fnatic initiated in September following a disappointing finish to the 2024 season.

- Derke Finds a New Home
Derke is the third member of Fnatic to leave the European VALORANT esports team since the start of September, as the Black & Orange look to rebuild following a rough ending to the 2024 season.
Despite their dominant showings domestically, Fnatic fell flat at VALORANT Champions for the second season in a row, which ushered in some changes.
Successful Stint With Fnatic
The 21-year-old joined Fnatic in April 2021 and helped the European team establish themselves as one of the top contenders in the EMEA region.
With Fnatic Derke has won five big events, including VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo and Masters Tokyo, Red Bull Home Ground #4, VCT 2024: EMEA Stage 1 and Stage 2; however, he has yet to claim the coveted VALORANT Champions trophy, with a fifth-sixth, fourth-, and fifth-sixth-place finishes across the last three seasons.
The three failed attempts to win the world championship led Fnatic to start a rebuilding process, which already saw the benching of Domagoj "Doma" Fancev and the departure of Emirhan "hiro" Kat.
However, Derke's departure comes as no surprise, as he was sidelined on August 28, shortly after VALORANT Champions 2024.
Derke Finds a New Home
Derke has already found a new home, as he signed for Fnatic's regional rivals, Team Vitality on Monday. Team Vitality, like Fnatic, have been rebuilding their VALORANT roster this offseason.
Since the start of October Vitality have parted ways with Emil "runneR" Trajkovski and coaches Laike "temoc" Lewis and Harry "Gorilla" Mepham and signed former LOUD player Felipe "Less" Basso.
Derke now joins Vitality as the final missing piece of the new puzzle, just over two months ahead of the start of a new season.
Team Vitality did not reach the expectations past season, with a fifth-place finish in VCT 2024: EMEA Kickoff and ninth-10th in Stage 1. While they found more traction in the second stage, in which Vitality finished in second place, the Bees collapsed at VALORANT Champions 2024, where they placed ninth-12th.
Derke is expected to debut for Team Vitality in VCT 2025: EMEA Kickoff, which is set to begin on January 4, 2025.
