ESL
ESL FACEIT Group revealed its plans for the 2025 ESL Pro Tour in 2024, announcing the competitive Counter-Strike schedule for next year and further plans in 2026. As confirmed, ESL plans to distribute over $22 million over the next two years in addition to hospitality expenses.
In the announcement, ESL revealed two Championship-level events and five Masters-level events. The former will feature two returning locations, Katowice and Cologne, and will take place in January-February and July-August.
Masters-level events will include ESL Pro League Season 21 and 22, as well as Intel Extreme Masters Spring, Dallas, and Chengdu. The events will be spread across the year, starting with ESL Pro League Season 21 in February-March and ending with IEM Chengdu in November.
Major Changes To ESL Competitions
ESL also revealed details about its competitions and format changes.
ESL Pro League will now feature 24 teams (instead of 32) and use a Major-like format with two Swiss Stages and Playoffs. Moreover, the qualification process will change.
Instead of qualifying events, ESL shifted more toward the Valve Regional Standings to determine participants of IEM Katowice, Spring, Cologne, and Chengdu. Only Intel Extreme Masters Dallas, ESL Pro League Season 21 and Season 22 will continue to have qualifiers for half of the teams.
Besides the announced events, ESL FACEIT Group has another event planned for August 20-24, expected to be the second instalment of the Esports World Cup. Currently, however, that is purely speculative, with more information about the events and the prize pool expected to be announced in the coming months.
