On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Ukrainian Counter-Strike team Monte announced Piotr "nawrot" Nawrocki as new head coach. The 27-year-old got promoted to his new role within the organisation after serving as an assistant coach to Serhij "lmbt" Bezhanov.

The changes come just one day after the departure of lmbt, who joined Monte as a coach in January 2023 and led the team ever since. However, despite the team's success in 2023, Monte slowed down of late, leading to some much-needed changes which also affected the roster.

Monte Move to an All-Polish Roster

Nawrot joins as a former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player who transitioned to coaching in April 2022 with Illuminar Gaming. His most notable stint came at 9INE, which the 27-year-old led between August 2022 to February 2024.

With 9INE, nawrot won a handful of lesser tournaments made the semifinals of BLAST Premier. Spring European Showdown 2023 and Brazy Party, and qualified for BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. Towards the end of his stint with 9INE, however, nawrot failed to find much success, and he eventually left to join Monte as an assistant coach.

Promoting nawrot to the position of head coach sees Monte take one step closer to forming an all-Polish squad. The organisation replaced most of their lineup in July with Paweł "dycha" Dycha and Aleksander "hades" Miśkiewicz from ENCE, later adding Kamil "KEi" Pietkun as the fourth Polish member of the roster.

With the new roster, which now features four Poles and one Ukrainian player Serghij "DemQQ" Demchenko, Monte found some success and nearly made it through Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024: European Qualifier A but fell short after a loss to B8 and ended the qualifiers in ninth-11th-place.

With a new head coach, Monte will look to find a bit more success on the global stage. At YaLLa Compass 2024 Summer, Monte are set to play their second fixture of the main event after beating Passion UA (2-0) in the first round.

Nawrot will debut as Monte's head coach on Wednesday, September 4, when Monte face off against PARIVISION at YaLLa Compass 2024 Summer.
