The MongolZ head to Romania as the main favourites to claim the PGL Bucharest 2025 trophy, while G2 Esports, Eternal Fire, and FaZe Clan join the race as dangerous contenders to derail the Mongolian Counter-Strike 2 team.

The dust has barely settled on BLAST Open Spring 2025, where Team Vitality claimed their third consecutive LAN trophy of the season, and the focus is already shifting to PGL’s second event of the year – PGL Bucharest 2025.

Featuring some of the world’s best Counter-Strike 2 teams, PGL Bucharest 2025 is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, April 2025. It will offer a $625,000 prize pool and a chance for The MongolZ, G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, Eternal Fire and others to contest their first LAN trophy of the season.

The tournament will run for one week, giving the fans a chance to follow the top tier of Counter-Strike 2 and place their bets on their favourite betting sites.

This tournament, in particular, will be an exciting one to follow as it will not feature some of the CS2’s heavyweights, including MOUZ, Team Spirit, and Team Vitality – giving other squads a chance to leave their mark and take advantage of the easier path to the trophy.

While there are a handful of teams who should be considered a serious threat to win the PGL Bucharest 2025 title, the latest betting odds show The MongolZ (4.00) as the top dogs and the most likely victors.

The Mongolian outfit, like many other attending teams, have yet to win a tournament in 2025. However, they came close on a couple of occasions, with semifinal appearances at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025 and ESL Pro League Season 21.

They also left a positive impression at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 (fifth-eighth) and BLAST Open Spring 2025 (seventh-eighth).

The second favourites, G2 Esports (5.00), have been enjoying a similarly successful season but never came close to hoisting a trophy.

They made the semifinals at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 and have since added a fifth-eighth-place finish at ESL Pro League Season 21 and fifth-sixth at BLAST Open Spring 2025. In both of the last two events, G2 Esports fell against MOUZ – who will not be present in Romania, giving G2 Esports hope they can make a deeper run.

Like G2 Esports, Eternal Fire (5.50) have had their moments. They reached the finals of BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, ended IEM Katowice 2025 in fifth-sixth, then added two fifth-eighth-place finishes at PGL Cluj-Napoca and ESL Pro League Season 21, and, in March, reached another semifinal at BLAST Open Spring 2025.

The mixed bag of results is promising, proving that Eternal Fire can compete at the highest level. Whether they’ll finally take the final step and win an event remains to be seen, but the Turkish outfit have shown they can take on anyone.

FaZe Clan (5.50) are tied as third favourites to win PGL Bucharest 2025 with The MongolZ, despite producing only one promising tournament run this season – a fourth-place finish at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025. In all other events, they did not place higher than eighth, which includes a ninth-12th-place finish at the recent BLAST Open Spring 2025.

The Romanian tournament will feature other teams who might surprise, namely Team Falcons (7.00), Team Liquid (8.00), and Astalis (10.00). All three teams have solid lineups and the potential to compete for a strong finish, yet neither have shown any form of consistency since the turn of the year.

Despite the relatively weaker field, Falcons, Astralis, and Liquid are not expected to do super well.

Beyond the leading seven, all remaining seven teams are given less than 10% implied probability of winning the event, putting them in the “underdog” category. Those include Virtus.pro (11.00), 3DMAX (26.00), GamerLegion (34.00), FURIA (34.00), paiN Gaming (51.00), Complexity (101.00), Legacy (101.00), Apogee (151.00), and Rare Atom (501.00).
