Sangal Esports and Nemiga Gaming secured their tickets for ESL Pro League Season 21 on Monday, October 20, by reaching the grand finals at ESL Challenger League Season 48: Europe. With Sangal and Nemiga, the ESL Pro League team list expands to nine squads, leaving 13 spots left.
On Monday, October 20, Nemiga Gaming and Sangal Esports clashed in the ESL Challenger League Season 48: Europe finals. As the best crypto betting sites suggested with the outright betting markets, Sangal came out on top, justifying their tag as the leading favourites to win the event.
The series ended in a 3-0 sweep of Sangal, who entered the finals with a map advantage, having secured their spot on the big stage through the upper bracket. Still, the remaining two maps were not particularly competitive either, ending in 13-4 and 13-10 in favour of the tournament's top dogs.
Despite losing the finals, Nemiga Gaming exceeded expectations by making it to the final two. They placed second in Group A and then upset Fnatic in the semifinals with 13-5. 13-10.
Nemiga won RES Regional Champions 2024 a day prior with a 2-1 victory against UNPAID in the finals. And while they took home $150,000 for their accomplishment, placing top-two at ESL Challenger League Season 48: Europe meant more.
By reaching the final two, Nemiga Gaming received an invite to ESL Pro League Season 21, their first S-Tier tournament since Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu 2024, where they placed ninth-12th with early losses against FaZe Clan and FlyQuest.
Like Nemiga, Sangal Esports can be happy with their accomplishment, securing their second ESL Pro League berth after a 17th-20th-place finish in Season 20.
ESL Pro League Season 21 is set to begin on February 25, 2024, welcoming 24 Counter-Strike esports teams who will vie for the coveted trophy.
Besides Nemiga and Sangal Esports, the tournament organisers have unveiled seven other participants who qualified for the event through their respective regional ESL Challenger League Season 48 events and FlyQuest, who won ESL Challenger Atlanta.
Joining FlyQuest, Sangal Esports, and Nemiga Gaming are M80, NRG, paiN Gaming, MIBR, Mindfreak, and Housebets. This leaves seven more spots in Stage 1, which will be filled up by ESL Challenger S48 Asia finalists, ESL Challenger Katowice 2024 champion and four squads who will receive invites based on their Valve Global Standings
