On Monday, October 21, Team Liquid announced the departure of Elias "Jamppi" Olkkone, who leaves the European VALORANT esports roster after three years.

Jamppi's departure is a part of Team Liquid's VALORANT esports roster rebuild, which started this summer following an abysmal run through the 2024 season as the VCT 2023: EMEA League champions failed to win a single tournament title.

In September, Liquid benched coach Emil "eMIL" Sandgren and parted ways with Dom "soulcas" Sulcas, who spent the 2024 season as a two-way player for Liquid and Apeks.

Changes continued in October, as Liquid signed head coach Ivo "LohaN" Albino, assistant coach Daniel "yaotziN" Roczniak, and player Kamil "kamo" Frąckowiak.

However, it seems Liquid are not quite done yet with their roster revamp.

Jampi has been the longest-serving member of Team Liquid VALORANT roster, joining the team in February 2021 after quitting his Counter-Strike esports career.

In his debut season with Team Liquid, Jamppi placed fourth at VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters – Reykjavík, won from Red Bull Home Ground #2 and finished the season with a bronze medal from VALORANT Champions 2021.

In 2022 Jamppi has not accomplished as much, with a seventh-eighth-place finish at VCT 2022: Stage 1 Masters – Reykjavík and VALORANT Champions 2022. Unfortunately, things did not improve in 2023 either, as Liquid won just VCT 2023: EMEA League before suffering an early exit from VALORANT Champions 2023.

Their worst season, however, is just behind Liquid, as Jamppi and co. did not come even close to winning a single tournament, ending VCT 2024: EMEA Kickoff in seventh-ninth, to which they added fifth-sixth and eighth-place finishes in Stage 1 and Stage 2, respectively.

While Jamppi is not to blame for Liquid's lacklustre results over the last two seasons, his stint with the European team seems to have run its course.

It is unclear where Jamppi will end up, but according to his Twitter post, he already has the next chapter of his career ready, with more information said to become available soon.
