On Tuesday, November 21, Team Liquid announced the benching of Josh “oSee” Ohm, who is stepping down from Liquid’s active roster after nearly two years. This leaves Team Liquid with just two active members on its Counter-Strike roster, including Keith "NAF" Markovic and Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis.

The benching of oSee comes amid reports of Team Liquid completely rebuilding its Counter-Strike roster following a stretch of poor results over the last six months. Since Liquid’s quarter-final appearance at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, the team has not accomplished much in their competitive endeavours, with their most notable tournament placement being a runner-up finish at BLAST Premier: Fall American Showdown 2023 in October.

Elsewhere, Team Liquid have not achieved as much, with early exits from Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2023 (ninth-12th), IEM Cologne 2023 (17th-20th), Gamers8 2023 (ninth-16th), and ESL Pro League Season 18 (17th-20th).

Team Liquid already tried to improve the situation with the signing of Aleks “rainwalker” Petrov and Robert “Patsi” Isyanov but couldn’t find any more traction and continued the downtrend. That eventually led the North American esports organisation to hit a reset button and start the rebuilding process, which will see the signing of at least three new players.

Despite the abrupt departure from the team, oSee likely won’t need long to find a new home, as he is reportedly close to singing with NRG Esports, who is set to return to the competitive Counter-Strike scene. On the other side, Team Liquid has already been linked with three players, including Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, Casper "cadiaN" Møller, and Felipe "skullz" Medeiros.

None of the three new players have yet to be officially announced as the newest members of Team Liquid, but we can expect to see some movement following the conclusion of BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2023, where Twistzz and cadiaN are competing with FaZe Clan and Heroic.
