Cloud9 enter the first round of BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2024 on a five-game winning streak. They’ve recently beaten Underrated (16-14), DASH (13-4), BLEED Esports (13-11), Ninjas in Pyjamas (13-7), and 500 (2-0).

While winning five in a row sounds great, and it’s a nice change of pace for Cloud9, we must also consider that not one of C9’s recent wins came against a good Counter-Strike team. In fact, they have not beaten an actual strong team since March, during the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: Elimination Stage.

PaiN Gaming are expected to struggle on Friday, which doesn’t make a lot of sense if you consider that they have posted decent results of late. Tournament title-wise, we have not seen paiN Gaming win a single big event since Global Esports Tour Rio de Janeiro 2024; however, they did pick up two titles lately, at Ace South American Masters Fall 2024 and CCT Season 2 South American Series #2.

Last week, paiN Gaming also attended Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024, where they performed admirably well and placed seventh-eighth, following a 1-2 loss to G2 Esports. Prior to that, paiN Gaming eliminated 9z Team and The MongolZ.

Overall, paiN Gaming have been posting solid results of late, and while they have yet to defeat a proper elite-tier team, that doesn’t mean this series will be a very tough one for them.
