Elisa Masters Espoo 2024 is the final and the biggest Counter-Strike esports event of the Elisa Esports series. It’ll kick off on Wednesday, October 16, and run for five days, culminating with the grand final on Sunday, October 20.

The Finnish tournament will feature eight teams, including the current no. 13 on the global Counter-Strike standings, The MongolZ, who are billed as the main favourites to win the event. HEROIC, who’ve recently made serious noise at Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024 are close second, with the rest of the teams priced at 6.50 or over with crypto bookmakers.

Three Strong Candidates

According to the best esports betting sites, The MongolZ are the leading candidate to win Elisa Masters Espoo 2024, which comes as no surprise. The Asian Counter-Strike team have been performing well over the last few months, and even made some noise in bigger events, including the ESL Pro League Season 20 and Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024, finishing both in ninth-12th place.

While MongolZ have not done well against top-rated opponents, this won’t be an issue at Elisa Masters Espoo 2024, where they are the highest-ranked team in attendance.

Still, their relative success in S-Tier tournaments does not mean The MongolZ are Invincible against squads ranked outside of the top 20. HEROIC and 9z Team should pose a serious threat, for the Mongolian squad are higher ranked, and their overall quality is not better.

HEROIC are priced as second favourites at 3.50, giving them a 28.6% implied probability of winning the event, a fair bit less than The MongolZ’s 36.4% chance. This is mainly due to HEROIC’s lack of consistency in their recent competitive endeavours.

They placed seventh-eighth at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #2 and ninth-12th at ESL Pro League Season 20. However, despite HEROIC’s recent slip-ups, they have done incredibly well at Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024 with a deep run in the knockout stage.

One notable tournament run after months of lacklustre showings proves very little. Still, HEROIC have always had enough talent to compete at the highest level, so that run could be an indication of great things to come.

9z Team can be added to the list of potential candidates to win it all. The Latin American Counter-Strike team have recently ended their IEM Rio 2024 campaign in the first round of the group stage with losses against Vitality and Virtus.pro.

Still, they have been in the top 30 on the global standings since June, when they made the semifinals at IEM Dallas 2024 and won FiReLEAGUE Global Final 2023.

Their success has been limited since with no podium finishes, yet we saw what they are capable of just over a month ago, so 9z Team should not be written off entirely.

The MongolZ and HEROIC Lead The Way

Seeded in Group A and Group B, respectively, The MongolZ and HEROIC are priced at 1.53 and 1.66 to win their groups, which sounds fair.

The MongolZ should not face much resistance, with B8, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and JANO Esports standing in their way. HEROIC might have to dig deep to make it past the 9z Team, yet they should not struggle against either Rebels Gaming or ENCE, who have recently made roster changes.

Group qualification markets open a few other exciting opportunities.

Behind the leading favourites B8 (1.61) and Ninjas in Pyjamas (1.66) are the main candidates to qualify from Group A, ahead of JANO Esports at 13.00.

On the other side, 9z Team (1.57), ENCE (2.25) and Rebels (4.00) sit behind HEROIC (1.14) to place top-two in Group B.

While 9z Team and HEROIC are by far the leading candidates to win Group B, things are not as clear in Group A.

B8 have been fairly consistent with their recent results and they won CCT Season 2 European Series #10 just over a month ago. However, 1.61 is a bit too low to pull the trigger on a second-division team. Ninjas in Pyjamas, on the other side, have recently made roster changes and are in terrible shape.

JANO Esports are the biggest outsiders to win Elisa Masters Espoo 2024, which should not surprise anyone as they’ve mostly competed in B- and C-Tier tournaments. However, they've shown some pulse and will be playing in front of the home crowd, which is not something to ignore.

Beating NiP should come easy even for JANO, and if the can catch B8 on a bad day, the Finnish squad will have a realistic chance to place top-two.

Verdict

Elisa Masters Espoo 2024

HEROIC are an appealing bet to win the tournament at the current price. Even though they’ve been less consistent than The MongolZ over the last few months, HEROIC have recently found more traction and if they can keep at it, it is hard to doubt their chances to win.

9z Team to qualify from Group B at 1.57 is another bet worth checking out. They likely won’t have an easy time beating HEROIC, albeit outperforming Rebels Gaming and ENCE should come easy as the two teams have been struggling of late.

A smaller position on JANO Esports to qualify form Group B is worth a look to. The MongolZ are the clear favourites to win Group B, closely followed by B8, yet knowing B8 can easily slip on any given day, JANO Esports will have opportunities to defy the odds and make it out alive.
