FlyQuest vs Gen.G Predictions

This is the most lopsided LoL Worlds quarterfinals fixture we've seen in years, as the tournament favourites clash with North America's first seed, FlyQuest. Suffice it to say FlyQuest will have a mountain to climb on Sunday, October 20.

Gen.G enter this match priced as 1.01 favourites with the best crypto betting sites, whereas FlyQuest are 14.00 underdogs to come out ahead of this series. This is a massive price gap, and while it's extremely rare to see one team favoured so much in final eight, there are reasons to believe Gen.G deserve it.

This will mark the first meeting between FlyQuest and Gen.G.

FlyQuest reached the final eight at LoL Worlds 2024, and with that far exceeded the expectations. While a remarkable accomplishment, the North American LoL esports team haven't had to beat any elite-tier opponents to make it this far.

In the Swiss Stage, FlyQuest defeated GAM Esports, PSG Talon, and their regional rivals, Team Liquid, which is the easiest schedule of any squads that reached the quarterfinals. The other two series, against Asian teams, Dplus KIA, and Hanhwa Life Esports, both ended in a loss.

It is fair to say that FlyQuest have not been properly tested yet. Or better said, they've not looked great in two tougher fixtures – so it is fair to question what they can do against the tournament favourites.

Gen.G Form

Gen.G are the tournament favourites and for a very good reason. This might be the most dominant and stacked LoL esports team we've seen at LoL Worlds in forever. They're a unique beast with highly experienced players who can deal with everything and do everything well.

Whether they're faced with a team that opts for unusual drafts or unique strategies, Gen.G always seem to have a response ready. This can be taken with a grain of salt, as elite-tier teams might catch Gen.G off guard on a bad day, but we have not seen many days like that from Gen.G.

Considering how versatile Gen.G are and how deep of a champions pool all five players have, it is a nightmare for any opponents to try and prepare themselves for this challenge.

Verdict

FlyQuest v Gen.G

FlyQuest have done well to make it this far, but doing well won't be enough to win on Sunday. Gen.G are by far the best LoL esports team in the world with no clear weaknesses, and it does not help that they've had a lot of time to prepare themselves for this series.

FlyQuest were given some time to cook up something for Sunday, but as noted, Gen.G are very difficult to prepare for as they have no weak spots.

This is likely a 3-0 as anything less would be a major disappointment for the Korean squad. While a B05 series opens up opportunities for FlyQuest to sneak in a map, that is highly unlikely.
