G2 Esports are in excellent form ahead of their opening match of BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024. They are 13-4 since July, with just four defeats against Natus Vincere (twice), SAW, and MOUZ, which is no small feat.

They have not won any event over the last two months besides the BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024, which does not sound too good. But form-wise, G2 Esports have shown a lot, especially during ESL Pro League Season 20 over the last few weeks, where G2 placed top four with just one loss against the eventual champions, Natus Vincere.

FaZe Clan Form

FaZe Clan were the most dominant Counter-Strike esports team in late 2023 and into early 2024. However, since April, when they won IEM Chengdu 2024, FaZe Clan have not managed to add another gold medal from an S-Tier event.

Over that dry streak, FaZe Clan have found some minor success, as they’ve consistently reached the knockout stage of bigger events – but that run came to a stop last week when FaZe crashed out of ESL Pro League Season 20 in 13th-16th-place.

While FaZe picked up three wins in Malta, those came against FlyQuest, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Sangal Esports, which isn’t the most competitive bunch of teams. Even looking further back into August, FaZe have not managed to beat a proper good squad, making it very evident that something isn’t clicking.

Verdict

G2 Esports v FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan, regardless of their shaky form are a very competent squad, filled with elite-tier players who can, at any time, beat any opponent. However, given their past showings, there are not many reasons to believe FaZe have what it takes to make it far in Denmark or even do well against G2 Esports.

G2 Esports are the better team here, with a stronger map pool, better form ranking, and they are up in the head-to-head. Even though it is true that G2 Esports don’t need to win BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024 to qualify for the World Final, the same applies to FaZe, so we can’t use the lack of motivation as a good excuse to go against the favourites.
