G2 Esports and paiN Gaming will lock horns on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the first round of the League of Legends World Championship 2024 Swiss Stage. This will mark the first meeting between the two rosters, and according to the esports betting odds, it should be a very one-sided affair.

G2 Esports have always been a threat at international events, but this LoL esports season, they've not looked great. They seemed to be checked out throughout the final LEC split and were not performing nearly as well as you would expect.

They still won the final split, as you would expect them to, and in some way, you can argue that G2 Esports always underperform domestically because they will come out on top despite not playing at 100%. Still, this season it felt different with a shaky early game.

It is not beyond the realms of possibility that G2 Esports will wake up and make a deep run at LoL Worlds 2024. But we'll have to first see it to believe it.

PaiN Gaming made it through the play-ins, and they performed admirably well. This is a good team, capable of doing some serious damage if given the space, and they're possibility much better than people expect.

Admittedly, they hail from a minor region, but the Brazilian side are playing well, with strong fundamentals. Compared to other top contenders, the only thing missing is individual quality, which will show. But that should not stop them from making some serious noise on the big stage.

G2 Esports have not played in a while, so it is hard to say how they have adjusted to the new patch. With the coaching staff and players they have, however, G2 Esports should get in rhythm soon enough – but probably not very early.

G2 Esports can be extremely good, yet they've not been even remotely than in the latter stages of the season, so it is fair to look the other way in this contest. Whether paiN Gaming really have a chance to win really comes down to one thing – will G2 Esports shoot themselves in the foot?

But while that is an unlikely scenario, it is fair to expect the Brazilians will keep the kill score fairly close, mainly because G2 Esports have not been very good in covering the kill spread over the last few months.
