G2 Esports are in an excellent position to win another significant Counter-Strike esports tournament this month, adding to their success at Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2024 and BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024.

They failed to perform as well in their last endeavour before ESL Pro League Season 20 when they placed fifth-sixth at IEM Cologne 2024. Nevertheless, it is unfair to say that G2 Esports are anything less than an elite-tier team.

In Malta, G2 Esports have so far been near perfect. They won their group with wins against KOI (2-0), 3DMAX (2-1), and MIBR (2-0), which is a good sign. But on the other hand, they have yet to beat a proper title contender, so it is fair to question how G2 will do against the surging Liquid.

Team Liquid did not win their ESL Pro League Season 20 group after losing to Team Vitality (1-2) in the upper bracket final. Yet, they have been posting some very promising results.

So far, Liquid have only faced one serious title contender, and they performed well. More importantly, they dominated Complexity (13-7, 13-2), proving that they might be ready to take a step up in competition.

G2 Esports look like the better team on paper, as they have accomplished a lot more this year compared to Liquid. But looking at the teams' results over the last two months, and you can agree that Team Liquid are catching up.

Especially since the start of the month, Team Liquid have started posting much better results, and with the quality of this roster, that is not surprising. If we look at the map pool, there is still a bit of a gap, as G2 Esports are stronger on Inferno, Mirage, and Nuke, yet Liquid have produced better win rates on Anubis, Ancient, and Dust2.

All things considered, Team Liquid are not getting enough respect on the betting markets and are an excellent bet at 2.40.
