M80 have outdone themselves in Malta, going against all odds and winning Group C. It is worth mentioning that M80 had it easier than expected with MOUZ's downfall, yet that doesn't take away from what the American-German lineup have shown.

M80 kicked off ESL Pro League Season 20 with a 2-0 sweep of Complexity, to which they added another convincing victory against Fnatic (2-0) and Imperial Esports, who M80 swept in the upper bracket finals. Across the three series played, M80 have not shown many signs of struggle, although they had to dig deep on some maps, namely against Fnatic and Imperial.

Prior to their trip to Malta, M80 displayed solid form at ESL Challenger League Season 48: North America - Regular Season and CCT Season 2 North American Series #2, so their success isn't that shocking.

MIBR Form

MIBR, like M80, have made it much further this tournament than initially expected. While they did not win their group, MIBR showed many great things in their wins against 9z Team (2-0) and Team Spirit (2-1), to which they added another solid display against HEROIC, who the Brazilian Counter-Strike esports squad bested in the previous round of the playoffs.

MIBR had to produce a reverse sweep to make it past HEOIC on Wednesday, but they performed well on both Anubis and Nuke, proving that their run so far was more than just a fluke.

Felipe "insani" Yuji, Raphael "exit" Lacerda, and André "drop" Abreu all had an explosive performance against HEROIC, averaging 1,27, 1.25, and 1.23 performance ratings across the three series. Insani, in particular, was incredible, posting 1.81 on the final map with a 21-12 KD.

M80 v MIBR

M80 and MIBR have both posted very promising results en route to the ESL Pro League Season 20 quarterfinals. As the offered betting odds suggest, there is not much to set them apart. However, it is easy to see why MIBR is expected to win.

While M80 can win, it is hard to justify backing them at this number. MIBR have been ramping up of late and if they can keep at it, it's fair to say they should be bigger favourites.
